"You'll dig this band. Put the CD on in the car and enhance your driving experience."
BRYAN BELLER , bassist for Mike Keneally, Z (Dweezil & Ahmet Zappa), Wayne Kramer
“…slinky, sexy, animated, and multi-textured instrumental music…The diverse and brilliant arrangements--which make evocative use of acoustic and electric timbres--are further enlivened by the exquisite tones and cagey phrasing of guitarists John Bartron and Mike Tyler...For a moment of sublime beauty, check out “How They Eat in Heaven,” and for a peek into the ingenuity and heart of the ensemble, listen to how the guys interpret the Beatles’ ‘Don’t Let Me Down.’”
MICHAEL MOLENDA, editor in chief, GUITAR PLAYER MAGAZINE
"At first I thought I was having a delayed acid flashback from some 70's Mr. Natural I took in a moment of weakness. Then I thought my cat Syd Vicious had gotten his tail caught on a turntable that was playing a Ventures album backwards. But finally I realized it was the BartronTyler Group playing and I could relax."
WILL RAY of the HELLECASTERS
"BTG is truly unique and all of the musicians are really fantastic, meticulous and interesting players...impressive and a real joy to listen to!"
ANDY WEST, original bassist with the DIXIE DREGS.
For over a decade, the Bartron-Tyler Group (BTG) has inspired, grooved, and enlivened diverse audiences at festivals and concerts all along the West Coast. John Bartron and Mike Tyler’s musical partnership began over 20 years ago in the San Francisco bay area. Years of playing in rock and cover bands followed before the focus shifted to the intricate structures for which BTG is known. In 1991, they premiered as a guitar duo, soon thereafter recording a disc at the prompting of Nashville producer and friend Bob Tassi. John Hasty joined forces to add percussive spice, building on the group to produce the next two critically acclaimed CD releases, “Fillmore Street Live" (1994), and “Leap Day" (1997). For the CD release concerts for “Leap Day", the band wanted to ground the sound with a bassist. The natural choice was Joey Fabian, with whom Hasty had already performed in diverse musical settings over the previous four years. The next release, "Like A Metaphor" (2002), showcased this new, fully realized quartet's amazing cohesion and flow garnered through four solid years of gigging. Since then, the band has served as backing group for Will Ray of the Hellecasters, Joey played with pop star Alana Davis (after she saw the group perform on Fillmore St.), Mike picked up a Parker endorsement, Bartron has a Godin endorsement, Joey added a Human Bass endorsement to his SWR endorsement, their song "Hit The Ground Running" was included on the "Acoustic Sunrise Favorites" CD released by SF's KFOG radio (alongside artists of stature such as Paul Simon), and perhaps most exciting, a glowing review in the most prestigious of all guitar mags - Guitar Player. 2006 brings the release of "Just About Almost There", a whimsical array of audio tales and instrumental protest songs...available now through the BTG website, iTunes, and CD Baby.

Was it surfing jazz you played on Fillmore Street last Sunday. I was a captive and left to find my wife who wanted to see Marcus Shelby. But I was really kind of dazzled. You know how nice it is when you just wander up to good stuff, yes?
We'd like to know when you're playing in Half Moon Bay.
You're going to be a Mistermojito winner for best obscure music of the year...for sure a contender.

You guys rock, saw you in late 90's when on a business trip! Have bought every CD since! I marvel at the musicianship and creative arrangements that you manage to whip up album after album! The latest one is no exception. Hope to see you live again soon.
After making my Bi-weekly check of my 300+ bulk emails, I noticed your announcement of a myspace page, seems like you guys have 'hit the ground running'... I know bad pun. Hope to see you guys play again soon.
Hey Joey,Hey Guys,
LOVE THE NEW ALBUM!! the chemistry is undeniable, you have strong Melodies that weave their magic through out the CD, the Interplay between the acoustic & electric guitars couldn't be any better, and of course it doesn't hurt to have a rhythm section That can laydown a rock solid foundation. wish you guys would "Head East" ;)
I've been a fan of the Bartron Tyler Group for three years. Between the intelligent compositions, the group interplay, the strong melodies and the uplifting energy they capture so much of what is best in music of any genre. When I buy a BTG album I know I'm going to be in for a musical and sonic treat. (I once also felt this way about Yes, Gentle Giant, the Hellecasters and just a few others.)
Steve Blomerth

After listening to and thoroughly enjoying your music for years, I asked myself, "Self: what is it about this music that I like so much? Is it the compositions? Is it the complexity of interplay between the instruments? Is it the musicianship?" I decided that it was all of the above, but mostly it was this: your music makes me happy.
I can't think of a better reason to like a band or a more important thing for a band's music to accomplish. I've seen you perform. It's obvious that it makes you happy as well.
Welcome to MySpace! I look forward to many more years of enjoyment and happiness from repeatedly listening to your recorded works and catching your live performances whenever I can.
First comment! Let me be the first to say welcome to MySpace. All ye who come here, you'll dig this band. Put the CD on in the car and enhance your driving experience. :-)
