Bart van der Lee was born in a small village nearby Utrecht. Already at a young age he moved with his parents to different places in the Netherlands. Later on his family moved abroad and that is how he came to live in the Phillipines, next in Thailand and then in Kenya. It was in Kenya where his interest in music came to lift by playing on his mother’s guitar.
His family returned to the Netherlands when Bart was thirteen. During the following period he got more and more interested in singing and playing his guitar. Despite his interest in music he chose to studie illustration at the art academy in Utrecht. He graduated in 2008.
In the first year at the academy Bart picked up his guitar and started writing songs again. That is how the album “ASFALT” (meaning asphalt) materialized in 2006, which he released under the name “Asfalt-Projects”. As an internship for the academy he started his own business in 2007 and published his first collection of poetry “Aan de Vogels die ik zie” (To the Birds that I see). After graduating Bart got more and more involved with music. He expressed his newfound musical talent on the EP “Oh Happy Day, Oh Happy Day” wich worked out in december 2008. In June 2009 his single “Lift This Weight” followed.
