Fort Wayne, Indiana-based band Basement What? has been flirting with national success over the last few years, and hope to climb out of the proverbial basement and into the limelight when they release their sophomore record this summer.
Basement What? continues to pound the tour pavement throughout the Midwest while the finishing touches on the new album, which they hope surpasses the success of their debut, U Listen 2 What?.
The band's signature song, "My Beer," was a college anthem, having landed on compilation CDs put out by Billboard Magazine.
Basement What? has appeared in Rolling Stone and Billboard, opened for such national acts as Chuck Wicks, Danielle Peck, SR-71, Collective Soul, Shinedown and Seven Mary Three, and landed in the top 30 most downloaded songs on what was formerly www.mp3.com. They also have several commitments to support national touring acts in 2008.
Somewhat straight ahead, somewhat quirky, but always within the boundaries of their own unique alternative country vibe, Basement What? (Dave George on vocals and guitar, Dave Campbell on guitar and vocals, Pete Jacobs on bass, Nick Young on guitar and Lou Grant on drums) has been winning over fans and critics alike and shows no signs of slowing down.
There are elements of Barenaked Ladies, Keith Urban, and Tim McGraw while at times leaning toward the edgy pop of bands like Sister Hazel and Lifehouse. Let's just say their sound is firmly entrenched in quintessential Middle America. And it's damn good.
I am bummed to see your May 3rd show cancelled at C-Street West. That's the day I graduate from college and going there to hear you guys would've been a good time!
It's all good tho... We're hoping to get to the Neon to see you guys sometime soon!
