A Basilisk is:
a dragon,
a band,
a legend.
RB3, Corey, and Nathan had been jamming together for many years. Formerly
members of the blues rock group "Vagabond", they honed there musical abilities together and they became great allies and companions. And though that group had to be destroyed for the good of the land, they remained companions. There love of music led them across this known world in search of there next adventure. Until adventure found them as they were having a picnic high on top of a mountain pass....
It began an ordinary repose. They ate and drank and talked of new beginnings and stared out at the world beneath them. They laughed and sang and told many tales and enjoyed the tranquility of their stone island in the sky. They were of course unaware that at that very moment, just behind the western ridge of the mountain, a great storm was building. It wasn’t until they were finishing there Lembas bread that they noticed the wind had changed direction. And just as they began to look westward did the biting torrent of wind come thundering across the crest of the stone giant. "There is a fell voice on the air." Corey whispered as he stared into the turbulent sky. "Quick down the path before we are lifted off the mountain!" shouted Nathan, but it was too late, the storm was upon them, and they were pinned in place by the wind and hail. They crawled underneath a boulder to avoid the tearing wind and ice but they could not escape the storms anger. As they huddled beneath their stone shield there came a deafening crash.
This crash was so loud that it was heard echoing down past the foothills mountain and as far as the west farthing.
The crash was that of a bolt of lightning striking the top of the mountain and cutting the stone right from underneath the trio's feet. And as it crumbled over the edge of the mountain face, so too did the boys. They fell faster and faster. The dark chilling wind howled passed them as they plummeted downward straight into the darkness. They held onto each other. Robert grasped at Corey's tunic and Nathan clung to Robert's boot. It seemed as if they fell for minutes or even days. As the three looked down into the abyss they felt helpless knowing the jagged ground was waiting below ready to crack every stone and bone.
Suddenly Nathan's mind was drawn away from the mountain cliff and back to the forest gate where they had bid farewell to the goat spirit - "when the time is right my son, you will know..." With an act of final desperation he reached into his cloak and, as quick as a flash, removed the mithrill cymbal. He grabbed his staff and leveled a tremendous blow upon the ancient china. Like a burst of flame a chime erupted from the disc louder the any thunder. Its ring echoed off of every stone and into every deep place in the mountain. Every crack and cave and hollow was filled with its powerful tone and many things looked up from their deep places to see the trio plummet fast towards the earth. Deep in the mountain a basilisk stirred. Awoken from its slumber it too looked up at the trio. With a flex of its mighty wings it threw itself into the air. Its graceful form glimmered with shining gilded scales as it ascended upwards quicker then the wind. Looking down at the beast below Nathan knew they were saved for only a beast of noble spirit would answer the call of the goat spirits china.
They heard it below as they fell towards it.
"STARE NOT INTO MY EYES FOR WITH ONE GLANCE YOU WILL JOIN THE MOUNTAIN STONE!" The three shut their eyes and clung to each other, falling faster now then ever.
And with one effortless swipe the basilisk grabbed the boys out of their free fall and pulled them close to his chest, His mighty wings lifting them straight upwards.
And so they flew, their eyes shut, their bodies pressed against the beast's scaly chest.
"Where is he taking us?" Robert whispered
"FAR BEYOND THE MOUNTAIN, TO THE HOUSE OF NOAH THRASH-HAMMER"
"Why, what lies there?"
"THERE, YOUNG WARRIORS, LIE YOUR NEW PATH - YOUR BANDS FUTURE"
The dragon answered.
And so on they flew,
stopping only to play the occasional show.
They wrote Odes, epitaphes, lymericks and tales along the way. They learned much from the great dragon for he was a creature of great wisdom, and they grew accustomed to traveling with him (though they were always cautious to never to gaze into his eyes).
Soon they reached the house Thrash-hammer, riding on the back of the basilisk. Upon arriving they jammed and talked of music and other things of import. Noah as it turned out, was a musician of great skill and power. He agreed to join there group and travel with them on the back of the basilisk
And so the trio had become a quartet. And they left revitalized as if some great gust of change was guiding them to new adventure. Every tree and hill and stone on the horizon glimmered like a melody of great beauty, and they chased after the edge of the world,
on the back of the basilisk.

The All ages scene in Chilliwack has certainly seen better days but now after a rocky summer, an eventful fall season and a long hibernation. After nearly 6 months of almost nothing for all ages shows, the shows have returned and it's time to rebuild the scene, return the energy and make things awesome again most importantly show that Chilliwack still rocks just as hard as the old days.
This friday at OAP Hall at Twin Rinks in Chilliwack is our big come back show. A call to arms to say we're back, we care about having an all ages scene in the Valley ! Most important show that Chilliwack can still rock just as hard as the old days !
Support local music, support the rebuilding of the all ages music scene in Chilliwack.
