..Beats n Bars Showcase is the brain child of Richard Reece, the Author, 20 year old hip hop artist from Basingstoke. The aim is to provide performance opportunities for the ever growing scene in Basingstoke....hip hop, grime, garage, drum n bass, electro whatever! If you want to perform, then make contact asap. Saturday 17 May we held our second Beats
N Bars event so far and it turned out a really good night! Besides the static
crowd (what do we have to do to make you move lol) I think all the mc's, dj's
and singers enjoyed performing.
I started with some mixing as everyone
arrived, it's been ages since I've mixed and it was the first time I have ever
done it live lol but it was ok. It lead up to me going first performing 4 of my
tracks from my mixtape 'Music Speaks For Me' Out 7th June.
Then on came
Kamikaze. He told me he was nervous and was having trouble
remembering lyrics but as soon as that music started he smashed it! I've been
eager to hear him for a while and he definately held it up!
CFK were next and the 4 of them had 3 tracks, 2 of
which produced by me so it's always nice to hear my own beats being used.
Signal performed Hate Me Or Rate Me, follwed by Truth
& Vendetta, and then Jay Dot performed his 96
Bars. Big things to come from these boys.
Jesta & Shadow . I'll be
producing these 2's mixtape, and they gave everyone a glimpse of it with 'This
Is How We Get Down', 'Limelight' & dropped a lil remix of 'Life Is Hard'
which is on my mixtape. Shadow is one to look out for!!! Jesta & I have
wanted him to perform for a long time and he didnt fail to dissapoint! Jesta
again repped and held it up through the set too!
A highlight for me was
getting to perform a couple of my tracks again with Kung Slu.
He's one of the reasons I started this whole music thing and to be on stage
collaborating on tracks was wicked! look out for him at my mixtape launch June
7th.
Danyel Leonard & Kim Gardener...... what can I
say. These two absolutely smashed it! They were the only singers for the evening
but thats all we needed, they were awesome! The 2nd track also had Stiki Boiler
featuring and the whole track forced every1 to a big ovasion!
Dough Bear. What a major surprise! I'm telling you this
boy smashed his track!! He only performed 1, but thats all he needed! The crowd
went mad for him! He held it up until the end of the set to, he clearly
loves this shit!!
XTC. As always he never fails to deliver.
Performing some of his new tracks produced by me, Memories & I Ain't Going
Nowhere! Everytime X can bring a different flavor to the night, with so many
different kind of tracks and subjects. If you ain't rating this man then I'm
telling you to get out! Watch out for the mixtape produced by me.
Bishop. Mr Controversial himself lol He's always bound
to bring hype to the mic and once again he did just that! 4 tracks and 2
accapellas..... he brought down the house!
Koze & Stiki
Boiler. These 2 for me killed it! They work 2geva really well and all 5
tracks were too sik! Watch out for these 2!! These 2 are most likely gonna get
you to dance, but a hard crowd turned into a really hard crowd believe me. They
deserve more praise than what they got!
G2K. The final
performance of the night and they didnt fail to upset. These boys are fastly
getting there names out and about. Keep an eye out for these 3, much more to
come!
T-Man Set. All the MC's were back on stage for
the last hour! T-Man, Me, XTC & Kie were mixing. Thanks to T-Man especially
coz he was kind of thrown into the deep end but dropping big tunes! Master
sprayed alot of bars and is still sick on the MIC! Big Big Big Big Big from 2
young lads and 1 young girl! Y.E & Yung Hustle spat some
bars and I'm telling you these boys were sik! Lady Diamond
stopped the vinyl spinning and decided to show off some beat box skills.
Damn..... these 3 were the youngest people there and they stole the show! It was
good to see youngsters getting involved.....it's what Beats N Bars stands for!

Thankyou for the compliments and thankyou once again for inviting me to the Basingstoke festival. Was great to do the show and look forward to doing some more shows toghether in the future.
