'87 Suburban named Paula?
basin street believes it is all of these things and more.
When they formed 9 years ago, Jermaine Jackson (guitar), "Fast" Freddie
Jackson (drums), and Reggie Jackson (bass) had not really thought
about these ideas. They just wanted to play Rock-a-Billy and have a
good time doing it. Their sound has evolved in various directions
as they've grown as people and as musicians; however, they've never lost
the desire to have fun while playing together. Despite the serious topics
they cover in their newest album, "Bush Says Rock and Roll is America's No.
1 Defense Against Terrorism", basin street never takes themselves, or life,
too seriously.
Not to say that they don't work extremely hard. basin street believes
strongly in a Do-It-Yourself strategy; hence, they record their own
albums, book their own tours, live in and rennovate their old house together,
and have engaged in flyering campaigns that are legendary in the city of
Austin.
On stage, the band GIVES IT ALL THEY GOT from the first chord to
the last gasp for breath, channelling a power that is both entirely
beyond, and infinitly within everyone that BELIEVES in a particular idea or
endeavor. basin street believes in the power of music to create social
change. However, they are not so naive as to think that they will make the
world perfect, nor would they want to. Rather, they just want to
make the world a little better by traveling 'round spreading ideas
of fellowship and brotherhood amongst the people.
