“The bass playing stood out under Ariane Cap’s experienced fingers. She really added a lot to the already unique sound. Key Tracks: ‘Vision Quest’ (A. Cap/W. Wein)”
Ben Black
Born and raised in Innsbruck, Austria, Ariane has been musically active since age 5, studying classical piano and other instruments. Electric and upright became her main instruments. She studied bass at the Bass Institute in Munich, and Jazz Bass Education at the University of Music in Vienna, Austria, where she was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of Miami to study in the Jazz program. Ariane received her Graduate Certificate of Music in 2000 from USF in Tampa, Florida. Ariane also studied extensively with Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, Chuck Rainey, Anthony Welllington, and Kai Eckhart.
Experienced in various settings and versed in many styles (from Big Band Jazz, to classic rock, pop, alternative, fusion, bebop, Latin...). Ariane has in recent years been exploring different kinds of world music and eclectic styles. In Austria she was bassist for theMozartBand, who fuses Mozart with funk and rock elements, featuring members of the Dresden Opera House, the Vienna Philharmonics, and members of Rock Star Falco’s band. From 2003 on, she spent three years on the road with the touring Celtic Rockers Tempest (album credit ’The Double Cross’, with the highly acclaimed track, ’Vision Quest’, which she co-wrote).
These days, Ariane is busy performing and recording with various bands and projects. Her primary ones are the The Sippy Cups, a psychedelic rock band appealing to kids and their parents alike featuring jugglers and aerialists and a rocking show, The Brian Cline Band, a premier North Bay entertainment outfit playing top 40, Jazz and dance-ables, and The Palmwine Boys, who fuse acoustic African Highlife music with Americana.
Ariane is currently working on her own album, which combines Celtic, African, Bluegrass and European Folk music with Rock and Orchestral elements. A solo concert program is taking shape, too, inspired by such artists as Steve Bailey, Victor Wooten, Jeff Schmidt and Michael Manring.
She is also a highly active educator, teaching out of her private teaching studio in Vallejo or online via musicvirtuosity.com. She co-conducts bass seminars and rock camps all over the US. Ariane is an artist-in-residence teacher at the Jackson Hole Rock Experience, and does presentations for her bass builder, MARLEAUX, and educational broadcasts for her amp endorser, EDEN.
As a freelancing composer and sound designer Ariane has turned out music and sound for hand held and online games for Wolf Track Audio, Karney Music and Sound and Somatone.
A trailblazing Bay Area performer, composer, and teacher, Ariane ignites audiences with her energetic stage presence, infectious grooveability, high musicianship and fluid virtuosity.

Ariane Cap, Bassist with 'Tempest'
I saw a concert locally in Pa. last night and was quite impressed by the Bassist. I was expecting to be kinda bored by the type of music the band is known for (Celtic Rock) but instead was totally intrigued and entertained. Ariane Cap, the Bassist was great and had every technique in her Bag. Great fingering, tapping, some slapping and not over done, very interesting and supporting Bass lines and a few Tasty Bass Solos that were not just filled with notes and speed. This Girl is a Real Musician that can Play!! __________________
