About me: I've played music all my life. I grew up in Livermore, Ca. where my Mom (mathematician/flutist) and Dad (chemist/vocalist) started me on piano at the age of three. I moved through lots of instruments, flute, violin, french horn, eventually settling on the cello and upright bass. I attended Berklee College of Music on a scholarship where I majored in Jazz Performance. After meeting a bunch of bluegrassers in college, I left after three years to play in the Two High String Band. It was while I was living in Austin and playing with them that I met Peter Rowan. I started playing with Peter in the fall of '98, then Tony Rice joined up in '99 to form the Peter Rowan & Tony Rice Quartet. Years later, I moved away from the beautiful Texas hill country to Nashville, where I currently live. That move proved to be the best thing that ever happened to me. I'm still playing upright bass and cello, and I'm honing my vocal skills. Last year I was on the road with Patty Griffin on her "Children Running Through" tour. I had an awesome time! Who knows what's in store for this year, stay tuned...

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
Hey, I recorded a new song a few days ago, it's called Masquerade--based on the ballroom scene of Romeo and Juliet. Just wanted to stop by and give you the free download if you'd like it and haven't picked it up yet:
I hope you enjoy it; if you do, please pass it on to your friends and spread the love :)
