Bassman Gerry is a self taught musician composer writer producer and singer. Born in the United Kingdom but grew up in the West Indies commonwealth of Dominica. September 1980 Bassman Gerry returned to the United Kingdom from the West Indies Dominica Commonwealth. He bought a fender bass guitar, a bass guitar book and taught himself to play the bass guitar.
In 1983, with fellow reggae fan and drummer Vincent McFarlane, Bassman Gerry decided to form a band naming themselves Creation Root. Bassman Gerry was the main contact for the band taking on all the management duties alongside his role as the bass player composer and producer. Creation Roots quickly became a popular band and performed at a variety of shows both locally and nationally, such as carnivals and festivals where they supported various artist and reggae stars. Among the many names supported were Luciano, Asward, Alton Ellis, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Black Slate, Johnny Orlando, Macca B,Barrington Levi. Cutty Ranks, Soul Diva Ruby Turner as well as the band New Model Army (a rock band).They performed live on Out of Our Heads music programme filmed for the BBC2 and also Wax on Wheels Ruby Wax show for channel 4 TV.

Since then Bassman Gerry has continued to write and produce music. So right now Bassman Gerry is a solo artist doing what he loves composing producing writing and recording his own works and giving thanks to the most high Jah Rastafari for his blessings and inspiration.
