Born on 1st of June 1978 in Beirut, BASSOUL is raised at the sounds of the operas and classical music that his mother enjoys.
At 5, he discovers the Beatles through the albums « Rubber Soul » and « Let it Be » that his uncle has presented to him.
By instinct, he imitates them phonetically by reproducing in time the rythms and melodies on the plastic basin in his bathtub !
Between 6 and 9, the intensive piano lessons provide him with a classical basis from which he moves away due to his artistic sensitivity toward a more contemporary pop-rock approach.
Mastering keyboards and singing, he takes up by himself guitar and bass that he masters very quickly.
During his teens, he creates several bands, playing bass and singing.
The different influences that we find in his recent compositions are The Pink Floyd,The Beatles, David Bowie, Led Zepplin, a kind of Hendrix,
And anyway lots of Rock English bands of the 70’s…
The album « IS LOVE THE KILLER » is deeply based on his own past, living realities and a hoped future that will probably never come ! With a kind of psychedelic way of turning things – « Do I need to be sorry for that ? Well I hope you’ll catch at least an ounce of the idea ! »
He Loves people, living and dead things, trees, birds, big cities and contryside, a woman, whisky, Mr.Lennon, Mr. Waters, black, red, yellow, white and brown people…. That will probably frighten some of you, Madam, Sir, little boy or girl, pet, herb or plant…this is web so you may be allowed to stay anyway… What can I do ?
« All we need is love and a glass of wine » and « we need poetry from heats of angels, sex and sea and something sweeter, we need carriages of love where sexy waving nymphs tease the wind as midnight comes »
