Welcome!
I'm the bass player for the Elvis Tribute Band "FEVER".
So often, when you see a band playing with an ETA, it's just a Rock
Band "out of place", trying to play Elvis music. In the band FEVER,
we carefully and faithfully try to reproduce the authentic sound that
you hear on the original record or from Elvis' Live shows. Sure the music isn't "perfect", but if you seriously get your ears around the Elvis-Live at Madison Sq. Garden or Aloha from Hawaii CD's, you can hear that it's "all over the place",in tempo, with lots of mistakes. The beauty of Elvis Presley's music is
that it "isn't perfect!", It just sounds raw and at times "unpolished". But WOW, does that music have an awesome "Feel" to it. It's not technically "perfect", but it does stand the test of time, and needs to be given its proper respect.
That's what attracted me to playing in this band "FEVER". Each member of this band takes the music very seriously tries to recreate that "feel" of
the original recordings. Sure, it's difficult to do when we are just playing as a
5 piece band with no horns, but, with Mike Carroll on the keyboards,
does more than an adequate job for us!!. What we pride ourselves
in doing is listening to the "signature licks" in each of the Elvis songs we play. For us, when we hear another ETA band play an Elvis
song, (and it's just a mile off of how it should be"), it just drives us crazy.
We are not just another rock band trying to sound like Elvis, we are an
Elvis band who plays Elvis music! As for me and my thoughts for how we do things in "FEVER", you just cannot call yourself an ETA band unless you seek out to give the music the respect it deserves. We are not on stage to just give "our interpretation" of Elvis' music, it is our obligation to the fans in the crowd to do our very best to DELIVER the most authentic sound and performance that we are capable of!. Just my two cents.
