Crying Wolf--bass, narrative.
Striking Resemblance--drums.
Stands on Edge--SG.
High on Karate--SG is on the recordings and soon to be released cd, but no longer playing in Batshelter
We recorded 13 songs at Acadia in September, stay tuned!
A more recent version of Red Light/Where Butterflies Chase Men, Xenopath, Theme for Kamandi, Captain January's Final Run and Small Planet on Falling Orbit are from WMPG's Local Motives show we did on June 5 2009.
New Thrust, Necklace of Skulls and John DiLibretto were recorded at practice 1/02/09 on a very old Radio Shack tape player.
Japanese Zero was recorded fancy by Vinz (thanks again) in Oct. No vocals on that, Gary had a bad cold that night:( We'll add more as we can, love, batshelter.
"Local peculiarities Batshelter played a truncated set, but won the crowd over nonetheless. Describing their sound is difficult. It’s almost as if Iron Maiden and Devo had a baby, but in a good way. Angular, syncopated riffs, played with the precision and power of a Panzer tank division. Look forward to hopefully longer performances from yet another dynamic, unique Portland band."
- Dan Clark [Portland Phoenix]
Loved seeing you guys at the Flask Saturday. Hell! I drove all the way from New York just to hear you...and was not disappointed one itsy bitsy miniscule iota! You are a lot of fun, and what a great lineup!
We was at the picnic but it started raining and we had to catch an early ride back before we melted, so we missed the batsheltering. I'm real sorry, I guess I'm a wimpz.
YOOOOO ADINER. I think I'll still be in Bangor then, I have a show this friday which is going to be awesome. This Haru Bangs band, fill me in on them, isn't Mike Cunnane their drummer?
Milo & I will be in that history of photog class so I'll be seeing you a lot then. I'm also taking Drawing II, Painting, Lithography & Screen, and Renaissance Art History. S'gonna be a mega-art semester.
I just posted a new song, it showcases my weirder, zanier, more drone-y direction. Been listening to loads of classical and later-era Nico along with my weird foreign music, and it's all spurring me onto some weird new zone of music.
Yo Askreena. Was it Tinariwen that you were listening to at the end of the year? The African travelling shifting group of musicians? I just got into them and they're really good either way. I've been all about getting into non-western and non-anglo music(s) lately. Hungarian jams and Vladimir Vysotsky and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and other stuff that's halfway different like Serge Gainsbourg and VICTOR JARA! (You need to check him out if you haven't, Chilean socialist folk singer/songwriter murdered in the revolution at the Santiago Stadium under legendary circumstances).
kick ass, your music makes me want to eat the skin off of someone's face, and then puke it up and wear it as my own face, so keep rocking;] Hope to roll with you on some concerts!
