Books
IMPRO - Improvisation and the Theatre Impro is Keith Johnstone's ground breaking book on improvisation. Impro
lays the foundation for substantive improvisation with strong narratives.
It exposes the mind's creative process and shows how people have been trained
to stifle their creativity. More importantly, Impro shows how to release the imagination
and embrace failure. ($20 at BATS Improv)
The Playbook: Improv Games for Performers
Complied and edited by BATS founder William Hall, the Playbook is a must-have index of improv games for every improviser.
Features detailed descriptions of more than 370 games, listed both alphabetically
and by category.
Impro For Storytellers Impro for Storytellers is Keith Johnstone's follow-up to the classic Impro, one
of the best-selling books ever published on improvisation. In Storytellers, Johnstone
takes a further decade of experience as a teacher and coach and explores how an
individual's potential can be released in group settings.

About me: Celebrating More than 20 Years of Providing Top-Notch Improvisational Theatre to the San Francisco Bay Area
BATS Improv, a non-profit education and performance theatre company, has entertained Bay Area audiences since 1986. Our unique style of acting-based improvisational theatre has made BATS the Northern California's largest improv theatre company and school and is a benchmark for improv all over the world. You can find a complete schedule of shows and workshops at www.improv.org
BATS takes its inspiration from the work of Theatresports creator Keith Johnstone and from San Francisco's own tradition of experimental improvisation. BATS continuously pushes the creative envelope, exploring both short and long-form improv theatre and has created many of their own improv formats over the past 20 years.
BATS presents improv shows every weekend, all year round. From comic competitions to improvised Shakespeare to spontaneous muscials--their shows showcase the variety and fun of improvised theatre.
The Main Stage Company includes some of the nation's top improv talent and BATS was named the Bay Area's "Best Theater Company," "Best Improv Company" (five times!) and "Best Comedy Troupe."
In addition, BATS runs a successful corporate training program, presents improv in schools as a popular participant in the Bay Area's Young Audiences program, and provides improv workshops through its Laughing Stock program to people living with HIV, AIDS, hepatitis C, cancer, and other chronic, life-threatening illness.

Greetings and salutations,
My best friend Mark Williams (a.k.a.) Admiral Kirk needs your vote to win a Star Trek: TOS Captain's Chair in the final round of the Roddenberry. com's 2008 Member of the Year contest. Mark and I "Gary (a.k.a.) Mr. Spock" are best known for our "Kirk And Spock" shows that we put on at conventions. The 2008 STARBASE INDY convention on Thanksgiving weekend featured us as part of their main entertainment. We had performed "Spock's Brain". I hope that we can get the video of our performance on YouTube in the near future. Another great reason to vote for Mark is that I only live a few miles from his house! After all, I have been and always shall be his friend.

My profile now has vast amounts of Star Trek information about joining the official Starfleet Command. Just click on any of the banners "pictures" and they will take you directly to that link. It's that easy with no copying and pasting. If you are 21 or older you might consider joining Barfleet which is the wild party side of the Star Trek clubs. There are 4 places to click on to get an application to join the Official Starfleet Command: my blog contains an application or click on any of the three pictures of ( big circle with Starfleet Command logo), ( Starfleet Command Uncle Sam) or (tricorder with applications next to it). They will bring up a PDF file. Just copy it, fill it out and mail it in. I also have many Star Trek conventions listed. Again, just click on the banner (picture) and it will take you to that site. This is a video with my fellow crew member of the USS Endeavour. It shows us at different events. I'm in it at several points and if you watch closely, you'll see me portraying Data next to a Vulcan who is now our ship's captain.
P.S. I would be forever grateful if you would add me to your top friends list.
Live long and prosper! CDR Gary Barclay Chief Security Officer USS Endeavour & First Officer Starbase 06
Hallo, BATS! It's me, Pickles! My Mom said she'd give me a carrot if I was nice and dropped by and said happy birthday to you. Tell her I did, okay?
I should tell you that I never see any horses in your shows or any classes with horses in them or a horse guest program. I think you are missing out. I think your shows would sell out if there was a cute little horse in it like me.
Also you are two years younger than me and I'm really smart so if you have any questions, let me know.
Happy Birthday! Now that you're 21, I'd be happy to take you out for a beverage. You were only 4 years old when we met. Sniff. How we've both grown. BATS, I love you!
