"As we search to find the truth behind the illusion, who created the human race, or biogenetic experiment, we look to those who came from the stars, ancient astronauts, creational gods, for our answers. All is theory, virtual reality, consciousness, and for the most part not provable, subject to the interpretation of the researcher or experiencer."

"It is often easy to get into an argument with a fellow friend about the genre classification of a band, especially if you are arguing about an artist that could fall under doom, sludge, or post-metal. If you find yourself sick of arguing with your friends, Minnesota/North Dakota outfit Battlefields may be right up your alley. Mixing the slow and methodical pace of doom, the thickness of sludge and the ambience of post-metal, their Translation Loss debut Thresholds of Imbalance is a huge three-headed beast that is bound to impress even the most casual metal listeners.
That said, its impact won’t be felt immediately. With three tracks trudging past the ten-minute mark, patience will be key – especially in a song like “The Thresholds” which beautifully builds up into a heavy climax in the midst of its thirteen-minute running time only to slowly digress into ambience once again. Throughout the nine tracks on the album – three of which are two-minute long transition tracks, which are some of the heaviest on the album – it is evident that the dudes that make up Battlefields focus heavily on songwriting and developing ideas rather than shredding their instruments into oblivion.
It is easy to write Battlefields off as another band joining the newly created Neurisis genre (for those of you who don’t know, it is the horde of bands that are heavily influenced by Neurosis and Isis). While their sound never fully emulates either band, their large sonic landscapes and aggressive vocals will immediately draw comparisons for many listeners. In fact, Battlefields’ well-balanced mix of doom, sludge, and post-metal put them up with some of the best bands of this style. Bands like Rosetta and Mouth of Architects need to watch their backs.
For those with A.D.D., be warned, you will fucking hate this band. For the few that don’t have it, I advise you to go to bed a bit early tonight and throw on Thresholds of Imbalance - preferably with some kick-ass headphones – and enjoy the doooooooom."

“it won’t be long before sludge and doom metal fans will be all over this”
[Lambgoat.com]
“it’s in fact a brillant album that sees Battlefields fully unflur their sound to its potential and should see them mentioned in the genre’s elite”
[TeethoftheDevine.com]
““Thresholds Of Imbalance” proves that you don't have to play music at a frantic pace to create something epic. Battlefields is a one and a million band that has surpassed Isis, to become the next great underground band.”
[Hardcoresounds.com]
“this is one of the priemere metal bands from this region: if you are a metal fan and live within 20 miles of Fargo or Minneapolis, consider yourself ashamed to not know this band after Thresholds. And truthfully any doom metal fan in the nation should definitely check out this album this year if you consider yourself a fan of the genre. With Thresholds of Imbalance Battlefields hit all their marks, from sick riffage to devistating vocal combination to the brilliantly colored soundscapes.”
[Mind Inversion]
"Bands that work their music in layers and strive for atmosphere usually opt for gloss and symmetrical sounds. Not Battlefields, who keep it organic and make music that’s not about destination but about getting places"
[Deadsparrow.com]
"The songs range from brief instrumental interludes to a handful of ten-plus minute epics. The band utilizes dual vocals, one a scream and the other a deep bark, to help further expand upon the chaotic vibe present throughout the album. Battlefields holds back on their aggressive side, building up to the moments where the floodgates of hell descend upon the listener"
[Heavymetal.about.com]
"Folks, the bottom line here is this is one hell of a band! They have a fantastic grasp of the unusual, and simply create wonderfully entertaining ambience filled music. And this will be on many best albums of the year listings for 2009 before its all said and done. This is a must buy for anyone that really appreciates creative metal music."

He Of The House's very first (of many) compilation. Nineteen tracks from twenty artists, the end result of which is possibly one of the most diverse compilations I've ever heard. From soft spoken acoustic folk to raving, churning dirge tunes; from a noisy, industrial cover of a Sonic Youth song to oldschool punk from when it was still raw, fast, and unforgiving. Powerviolence peppers the grounds where spooked whispers whinny along, and the caustic words of a madman festering in his own mind play out over perpetually plucked guitar strings. A true honour it is to work with these amazing artists, and I do hope we can keep them coming back for years.
Featuring: Zombie Battle Axe, xHaroldShitmanx, Kro & Jason "EVIL" Covelli, Nemesism, Ginny Greenteeth, Don't Move, Spiral Vertigo, Chachi On Acid, Mike Bruno, Autopia, Dead Kid Harvester, Jason "EVIL" Covelli, Karmakumulator, Chelsea Wolfe, RedSK vs. teh soup rebellion, Torturing Nurse, Sleepers, Flea McGruff
Housed in handmade & handpainted paper jackets with individually original black tissue cutouts, enclosed with a button. Featuring full page insert artwork by Jason "EVIL" Covelli and a blurb about each band/artist from myself. Limited to 45 handnumbered copies.

that's cool! hey, Titanic is on TV right now and it made me think of an interesting question... if Battlefields happened to be the band on the Titanic, what would you play as your last song before the ship sinks into the ocean? It doesn't have to be a Battlefields song
(or would you all be a bunch of pussies and hop into a life boat? haha)
