ROBOTIC EMPIRE :This band got really fucking good! Complete with blistering riffs, well-crafted solos, loads of double bass, inhuman drum fills and absolutely scathing vocals, Richmond natives BATTLEMASTER have seriously turned their game up a notch with this phenomenal debut! The layout for this release rules and the production on this is spot-on too, dare we say "perfect" for their sound. Highly recommended.

No Signal : "Battlemaster are more cognizant of the cliches and unintentional humor inherent in...typical metal lyrics...they arrive at an off - kilter brilliance of their own, combining concepts that are ridiculous with an air of triumphant glory that's undeniable."
INDY WEEK : "With a precision two-guitar attack and schizophrenic dragon-breath and goblin-squeal vocals, Richmond's Battlemaster beckons back to D&D metal, embracing heavy fantasy themes and nailing them to eardrums with drummer Alex Tomlin, whose unorthodox rhythmic ideas and fills are worth the price of admission alone. These guys are instrumental monsters coveting hyperbole."

"Mindflayer's Addiction" live at Alley Katz (rva) w/ Baroness, Catalyst, PYITF,B!
Chaotic evil in alignment, hastened shredders Battlemaster will run you through with their debut full-length sword, "Warthirsting & Winterbound". In a baleful reign of fantastic metal domination, Battlemaster force you through a classic of a campaign, deep inside the bleak caverns of fantasy noire. These five Richmond, Virginia based adventurers speed your imagination through 10 tracks/45 minutes of belligerent but creative drumming and blackened crypt-crawling guitar-work, with a fast-paced goblinoid narration of bestial vocal variety.
"Warthirsting & Winterbound" summons an array of technical and necromantic spells of blackened thrash and forward-thinking melody to pay grim tributes to the fierce and forgotten denizens of the underdark. Recorded in the brilliance of winter with Cory Smoot (Gwar, Municipal Waste), the debut captures the momentum and urgency a of speedfreak game of AD&D. An epic weapon of aggressive and magical properties, Battlemaster 's "Warthirsting & Winterbound" has been released on fellow Richmond wizard-core label conglomerate Forcefield Records!!!!
BATTLEMASTER are Richmond's finest answer to the question "why aren't there more US death metal bands focusing on triumphant medieval conquest?" The answer is clear: because you gotta go big or go home... and on this quintet's latest self-released four-song demo, they go MEGA. It's all wailing guitars, unholy amounts of double-bass and raging, scathing vocals that would make Poseidon himself proud, throwing his trident towards Valhalla! You (hopefully) get the point though, and this band fucking rips.

"The warrior welcomed me....to him my praise is due" -- Egil's Saga. Hails and eternal thanks for the add. I shall watch closely the course of the Battlemaster. Seriously, thx.
