Battle Scars is intended to be accessible to all. Battle Scars does not tolerate violence, rudeness and small-minded attitudes. Leave this prejudice at the door.
Battle Scars is an unbiase and diverse arena, concerned only with good music.
Battle Scars is about lyrical combat.
The competition demands intelligent lyricism, it's not just about ‘dissing’ or offending your opponent. The style, technique, execution and delivery of the lyrical content will be what the contestants are judged on.
Poets, Rappers, Singers, Toasters, Chatters, MC’s and masters of the spoken word, from all styles and genres, come together in one arena to do lyrical combat, in a four round elimination contest to the lyrical 'death'... for there can be only one!!
All lyricists welcome.

Battle Scars was first set up 2000. The aim was to engage members of underground music, and to celebrate the wealth of talent that it harnessed.
The success of Battle Scars in 2000 created a huge stepping-stone for the years ahead. In 2001 Battle Scars held its 1st Annual lyricist tournament in London.
2002 saw the birth of Lawyer’s Street Team. This took off in a much greater way than was anticipated. Due to this, the Battle Scars initial UK tournament was put on hold as much of the year was spent on the development of the team, and as a result they came to be the number one Street Team in London.
The first UK Championship was held in 2003, with three heats (London, Birmingham and Leeds), and a grand final in London’s Coronet. It was also this year that Universal Pictures and Battle Scars joined forces to promote the 8 Mile DVD.
In 2004 The Princes Trust commissioned a National Tour, the ‘Battle Scars Freestyle Tour’ resulting with the finals taking place on both days of The Princes Trust Urban Music Festival, the UK’s largest urban music event.
2005 and 2006 saw Battle Scars generate more attention from the public, the press and reputable organisations.
The event in 2007 is a warm up round to the next stage.
Battle Scars 2008 will be the most extensive tournament to date with support snowballing from TV, Press and Radio alike.
Let the battles commence……………
