Bayou Blue plays music inspired from New Orleans and the Caribbean, with a modern touch.
Bayou Blue has more than 15 years of existence, and 5 own CDs in their discography. The band has appeared at most major jazz festivals in Norway, such as Oslo, Molde, Nattjazz (Bergen), MaiJazz (Stavanger), Varangerfestivalen (Vadsø), the Groove Valley Jazzcamp in the small community of Beiarn, Nordland. This year the band will return to the northern parts of the country, to play the Sortland Jazzfestival. Bayou Blue has also guested several other countries, a.o. three extensive tours in the UK.
Bayou Blue has collaborated with many different artists. Viggo Sandvik (voc.), Maj Britt Andersen (voc.), Nils Chr. Fossdal (voc.), Atlars (rap/voc.), Didrik Ingvaldsen (tp.), Clarence W. "Ghetto Man" Riley (rubboard, USA), Maxime St. Victor (congas, Haiti), and now most recently Sheldon Blackman (voc. Trinidad & T.) are just a few.
The band's CDs have always been very well recieved in the press. The recorded version of their musical show Marsjen til New Orleans was included in the selection of Arts Council Norway of 2004. They are currently doing the school circuit for Rikskonsertene with their own production Radio New Orleans Likeways, the Bayou Blue's live shows always get high acclaims for their musicality and spirit, and for their own catchy compositions that blend well into the classic material.
