Hakkımda: The Bay Theatre was built in 1947. It has always been a one-screen movie house and was originally part of the Fox Theatre chain. While it showed contemporary films, it was known for screening foreign films and surf documentaries in the late 60s and early 70s. Steven Spielberg reportedly came to watch many foreign films at the Bay Theatre while he was a film student at California State University Long Beach in the mid 1960s.
In 1975, current owner Richard Loderhose purchased the Bay Theatre, removed several of the front row seats, and installed his 1928-built Wurlitzer Organ. Originally from Paramount Theatre in New York, the organ is said to be the largest known Wurlitzer organ in any operating theatre in the world today.
The Bay Theatre currently features modern films as well as a weekly classic film. We are proud to offer this opportunity to the public and we welcome any suggestions or comments you have.
