Shor Bazaar is a five-member band conceptualized in September ’07. With a heavy dose of serendipity, the band finally completed its line up in the last week of December ’07. Since then its been one dizzying ride - from getting disqualified at our first music fest (for purely non-musical reasons – allow me mention) to recording our first album in the latter half of 2008 under Phat Phish Records. The release date of the album is not yet finalized.
We competed successfully against the best bands in the Radio City RC Live! band hunt in 2008 where we were the West Zone winners. We have headlined the NM College’s Umang 2008. We have been featured in Rolling Stone India’s August editon. We have had a couple of interviews/acoustic sessions on Mumbai’s FM channels (RJ Malini, RJ Veda Viki from Radio City) in the last few months. We have played at Daddy’s WindSong Wednesday’s, Il Terrazzo Del Italia on February 4th 2009.
We had left our jobs and careers in 2008 in the hope of making a career out of music. The chilling truth has finally bitten us and currently we are trying to wade through the times of recession by going back to being employed. This is very frustrating and we are tying to apply that to writing songs for our next album.
We like to claim that we love only four things in this world - Music, South Park, chicken soup and quoting ourselves! And we quote "We specialize in wasting our time trying to make money through music. Till date, our earnings total zero."
