Full Biography:
„DJ, Producer, Label Manager, Networking Person, Music Journalist“ – that’s how the 1978 born baze.djunkiii refers to himself in his myspace-profile as well as in his weblog nitestylez.de, both constantly updated with dates, news and – talking the weblog – record reviews.
After receiving a tape containing some early AcidHouse- , Detroit- and NuBeat-tunes somewhen in the second half of the 80’s from his older cousin, baze.djunkiii was completely hooked upon electronic dance music and spent hours and hours in front of his tape deck, recording everything electronic aired on the radio: Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Snap, Black Box and many more. Not much later he bought his first pieces of vinyl – Depeche Mode’s „Violator“ and Snap’s „World Power“ – way before dj’ing became his passionate love.
Collecting flyers, magazines and all kind of information available about the growing dance scene throughout his trips to Hamburg recordstores kept him updated until baze.djunkiii finally entered the party zone at the age of 15, attending several club nights and raves in Hamburg and Westerland / Sylt. From this time he regularly spent his holidays in Hamburg buying rare whitelabels and extremely limited editions of vinyl and provided his friends with a massive amount of freestyle mixtapes after he could afford first mixing equipment in late 1995 / early 1996.
Finally moving to Hamburg in 1997 baze.djunkiii soon got the chance to play out Drum’n’Bass at the K-Club as well as being part of the DJ Culture Festival in Berlin, before he established his own event series „Die Gesellschaft Ist Krank“ at Lunacy in 1998 plus his radio show „Die Nachtschwestern“ broadcasted via the local independent station FSK from 03/1999 until 06/2005 on a regular basis, which started out as a monthly platform for Experimental Ambient and soon developing into a weekly show for all kinds of electronic music, featuring baze.djunkiii’s longsets as well as several national and international guests. From his first DJ-sets in front of an audience in 1997 to date baze.djunkiii – who is known as a passionate DJ prefering to play whole night clubsets rather than 60 minutes rave showcases – can look back to a schedule of 500+ public appearances in clubs, festivals, raves, bars, radio shows and art events, including a residency at the world famous Techno club Tresor at their former Hardcore / Industrial Techno-related „ear.ache“ series, showcases at festivals like Lovefield and Fusion, several gigs throughout Germany in Cologne, Munich, Mannheim and many places more and even Greek cities like Athens or Thessaloniki. A full list of shows is available upon request.
In 1999 baze.djunkiii established his own imprint Intrauterin Recordings as a vinyl outlet for electronic dance music in general, followed by the now defunct sister label Intrauterin Tapes focusing on Drum’n’Bass-, UK Garage- and DarkJungle-mixtape culture. From 2006 to mid-2009 he, alongside DJ Da Cut, co-ran the Hamburg-based imprint Rudel Records, which is specialised in Drum’n’Bass- and Breakbeat-related music with a bit of leftfield attitude.
baze.djunkiii’s first steps in production were made alongside his friend Homebass as they teamed up under the name of Intrauterin Alliance and released a few tracks plus a remix for the Industrial-/ Electronics-project Notstandskomittee under this moniker from 2002 – 2004 but split up again due to their different visions in music. In early 2008 baze.djunkiii and his label partner DJ Da Cut and delivered a Drum’n’Bass-remix for the american PostRock-outfit Ostinato on their own imprint Rudel Records.
Further projects involved event promotions, freelancing for labels Cylence Records and Superstition Network which is home to imprints as Poker Flat Recordings, Dessous Recordings amongst others, the now defunct booking agency Intracon, a job as editor in charge for FLYER Hamburg, contributions to several online and print magazines, e.g. the infamous german magazine Raveline which featured his record reviews ever since the year 2000 until late 2008, plus his job behind the counter at Hamburg’s Otaku Records, which is the main hub for every kind of electronic music sales in town. Since 01/2008 baze.djunkiii is back on the broadcasting circuit, regularly transmitting via the highly appreciated webradio Byte.FM on a bi-weekly basis.
One year later, in early 2009, baze.djunkiii picks up on promoting events again establishing Plutonium Pogo alongside Lars Lewerenz of Audiolith Records as a regular series at Hamburg's longest running venue Molotow as well as setting up Plutonium Pogo-events in several german cities.
Playing alongside artists as different as Air Liquide, Grooverider, Panacea, Sonnenbrandt, Shackleton, Digital Mystikz, Kid Kameleon, La Peste, Asmus Tietchens, Aaron Spectre, MSTRKRFT, Shitdisco or Punks Jump Up might give an idea of baze.djunkiii’s musical versatility who understands and loves electronic music in it‘s whole variety of styles and due to this is able to spin a wide range of sets from Experimental Ambient and Minimal to Grime, Dubstep, UKGarage, Nuskool Breaks, Drum’n’Bass, Breakcore, Elektro, Techno, GhettoBass and whatever, using creative gimmicks and a unique style of rough mixing.
