About The Benka Boradovsky Bordello Band

Album Polkapocalypse out now! get it at www.monkeyrecords.com
"With a sound based around accordion, clarinet, electric guitar, and lashings of laughs (they do a beautifully inebriated cover of the Dead Kennedy’s Too Drunk To F***), Polkapocalypse is theatrical, rebellious and fun party music."
--NZ Herald

Hailing from the slums and ghettos of New Zealand (the Prague of the South), The Benka Boradovsky Bordello Band bring their unique brand of highly theatrically East-European Apocalyptic Debauchery to Europe... Expect spontaneous combustion in the audience, clothes thrown off in frivolous rampage, macabre stories, legs turning into snakes, much musical and physical inebriation and dancing, dancing, dancing... When Balkan, Punk, Cabaret and Swing combine, nuclear meltdowns of worlds begin...

The album, Polkapocalypse, is done, World Domination is just around the corner... The brothels shall be the parliament, the Graveyards the Houses of Commons.... A new era is upon us...

After first emerging from an alleyway behind Auckland's Wine Cellar sometime in the May of the 2006, under the guise of Kapitan Shakirov's Krazy Klezmerim; there has been a vague aroma in the air... a sprinkle of klezmer and a lingering hint of the Eastern Europeanesque with an exhalation of the Romani, well disguised behind the scent of whiskey and sweat. After a succesful year's touring of their debut ep "danse macabre", including playing festivals such as Splore, Parihaka, Jambalaya and Prana, opening for Beirut at the King's Arms, and their single "The Dance Of Death" spending four weeks on the Kiwi fm top ten, and it's video lingering for 6 months on the amplifier top ten, the band is about to delve deeper, further past the apocalypse, into unlit and illimitable corridors of eldritch fantasy...

May I suggest the lot of you climb into a tea cup and sail North Easterly to the west coast of America. Upon your arrival you will be greeted by all manner of Natives... strange at first, but upon closer examination you will find them quite friendly and agreeable! Thanks for the add, love the music..... Cheers-
