Hey, Thanks for playing us and plugging the gig... You only forgot Zak out of the band biog section, it's ok, it's only Zak, he sits at the back anyway and just hits the drums!
Songs of love and despair The Boiler Club Presents Unsigned Heroes SHAUGHNESSY /JUST FONTAINE Djay Damien Skelton. Live at Northampton’s Legendary Club Sat Oct 10th 08.00-12.30 Adm free.
Shaughnessy is a musician from the North West of England. It seems an obvious thing to say but with Shaughnessy, the song is king. The constant pursuit of melody and hooks keeps Shaughnessy reaching for something classic. Usually pigeon-holed by the industry as falling somewhere between Paul Weller and Damien Rice, regardless of this Shaughnessy would instead like to say that he has influences that range from - Neil Finn, Ian Brown, Neil Young, Lennon and McCartney, The Beatles, Dr. John, Steve White, Philly Joe Jones, Keith Moon, Paul Weller, The Style Council, The Jam, The Who, The Kinks, The Small Faces, The Meters, Booker T and The MG's, The Funk Brothers, Galliano, Buena Vista Social Club, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Art Pepper and The Rhythm Section and many more....
Shaughnessy has supported Ian McLagan and The Bump Band, The Christians, Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros, The Proclaimers and many more in the past, along with many gigs up and down the country.
Just Fontaine. A widescreen sonic rush "Just Fontaine deal in elegant melancholy, and their widescreen sonic rush, can only be magnified by the recent addition of a multi-instrumentalist to the line up. Fans of Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, the Go-Betweens or Tindersticks will lap this up. A powerful, affecting combo”
Hailing from the new Barcelona some 75 miles north of London (that'd be Northampton then.), Just Fontaine is a slightly skewed five piece, writing and playing their brand of elegantly wasted songs of suspicion and despair.
Thanks for playing our track on your show. Twas a good show - interesting news about the festival hitting Northampton. Whatever next for Northampton, roads, electricity ?
