Now in its 14th year, the UK B-Boy Championships is one of the world’s greatest Hip-Hop events. There are national qualifiers worldwide where dancers compete for the opportunity to represent their country at one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the Hip-Hop calendar. The event features the best solo breakers, poppers, lockers and bboy crews from across the globe. It also plays host to some of the most exciting Hip-Hop artists to visit the UK.
The best dancers from around the globe are soon to converge at the Brixton Academy on Sunday 11th October to compete in the World’s 1 B-Boy competition in a battle to become the 2009 World Champions. The Championships brings together the best of the best from the US, UK, Japan, Korea, Russia, China, Holland and Scandinavia. After a five-month search, staging eight international eliminations, the winners will now all take part in the ultimate B-Boy battle. Over 5,000 people are set to descend on London’s Brixton Academy to watch all the incredible action during the event.
Followin the success of last year's six part documentary, Channel 4 has recommissioned a new TV series for the 2009 World Series following the trials and tribulations of the world’s greatest breakers, poppers & lockers in the lead-up to the Sony Ericsson UK B-Boy Championships – World Finals. The new series ‘Sony Ericsson World B-Boy Series’, which premiered as one-off documentary om 2007 on Channel 4, will document the search to find the most talented crews and solo dancers to compete at the World Finals.
