Bob Cheevers is an Emmy winning songwriter from Memphis. He's a Kerrville and Napa Valley Festival winner with six commercial CDs to his credit including two top 20 Americana chart CDs as well as the 8- CD collection called "The Bob Cheevers Archive Series" covering his writing over the last 25 years.
Bob has spent the last 6 years touring relentlessly in Europe as well as doing house concerts and venues in the US. His favorite "accolade" is having been personally asked by Johnny Cash to join Cash on what would become Cash's final tour. Bob's songs include tales of romance, a personal look at the world through his own eyes and character studies of people who were caught up in the Civil War... rootsy, blues flavoured tales of the Mississippi Delta delivered in a conversational language of the heart. A master tune-smith, Bob is rounding out his 4th decade as a songwriting troubadour. About his songs he says, "I don't know if these stories are true, but they happened to me".
"…a book of short stories, bound together flawlessly by a natural born story teller". --Neil Fagin of Performing Songwriter Magazine
"Bob’s Southern songs, "show an understanding of war as a thing of shame as well as glory." -- Shelby Foote, renowned Civil War Historian
"Bob is like Jackson Browne, Rodney Crowell and Lyle Lovett...none of them fit the standard mold." --Bo Goldsen, Criterion Music, Los Angeles
"Bob is the New Mark Twain and the Great American Writer." -- John Tita of Polygram Music NY.
Bob is a born storyteller. This man could put Shakespeare to shame. And that voice! Does he gargle gravel and honey for breakfast? Whatever, it works. Not only could Bob charm the birds from the trees, he could have them singing backing vocals for free if he wanted. We appreciate real talent in the North East- so we love Bob! -- Julia Hankin
presenter, The Julia Hankin Show, BBC Radio Newcastle
"Bob is as deep South as mockingbirds and magnolia blossoms...steeped in its history and mystery and adept at relating the journey and painting its complicated picture in simple pastel colours. He is the southern states in microcosm...an ambassador for its culture and traditions and the latest in a line of story-teller troubadours that stretch back to the beginning of time. He is a fully paid-up member of the second oldest profession on the planet...true to his vision and as real as it gets...he's wonderful as a musician a and person. Becoming a Cheevers Believer is a pollination process, and I would hate to think of him being in that box of broken jewel cases and dreams under the desk of every radio producer." -- Rob Ellen, Promoter/Radio Presenter, Medicine Music, Scottish Highlands

Bob deserves all the attention we can stir up for him. He's been a good friend of mine for more than twenty years, and his music is really very special.
This photo was taken at one of his now rare California appearances in Grass Valley in 2007.
Thanks. We had a great time in Memphis. Beale St. and Sun Studios were terrific. Also visited Tulsa and Dallas but didn't get to Austen this time. Maybe next time.
