History

Sadly, Brian passed away on February 9th, 1997 after a long illness. Due to demand, the band decided to continue, as a lasting tribute to Brian Connolly. Commencing with members of Brian's BC Sweet during the last years of his life, the band continued to tour throughout the nineties, playing major venues across Europe and closing the millennium with a triumphant performance to 45,000 in Cardiff on Millennium night. The band took this opportunity, after broadcasting live on BBC World to millions, to pay their tribute to Brian Connolly and make sure that he was firmly in the minds of thousands as a new Century began.

BC Sweet continue to tour across Europe performing their all hit show to thousands of lovers of rock and pop music. The BC Sweet of today has an incredible heritage. Each member of the band brings a unique contribution in style, approach and sound. The show is packed full of The Sweet’s hits from beginning to end, performed by former members of The Sweet, BC Sweet, Saxon, Les McKeowan's Legendary Bay City Rollers and The Glitterband with power and excitement, guaranteed to rock the crowd like no other band around!

Kevin Moore-Lead Vocals and Bass Guitar

Kevin’s first gig with BC Sweet was in Germany at the end of 2005. He was an instant success with BC Sweet fans with his powerful voice and winning charm. Some of you may also remember Kevin from his days playing with Christie. Like Pete, Kevin has a list of credits as long as your arm, ranging from Gary Bushell’s Gonads to 80s soul star Jaki Graham.

Kevin has been a professional musician since the age of sixteen and has toured the world plying his trade. For me, Kevin is the final piece in the BC Sweet jigsaw. We have a very happy band that really looks forward to getting on the road and performing, and that is due in no small part to Kevin’s powerful presence on stage coupled with his fantastic personality off stage. If you ever meet Kevin you MUST play the “Seven stages of separation” game with him. It’s a riot.

Kevin truly lives the dream. He leads a superb life in Spain and travels from there to perform with BC Sweet.

Pete Phipps-Drums and Vocals

Pete Phipps is a founder member of The Glitter Band who had a string of hits in their own right through the 70s as well as being the backing band on numerous world-wide platinum hits for Gary Glitter. The pounding drum intro to Rock and Roll Part 2 can still be heard in sports stadia all over the world every single weekend. Such is the power and legend of the “Glitter” sound.

During the 80s Pete worked with a string of amazing artists including The Eurythmics and XTC.

Away from BC Sweet Pete not only teaches drums to the drummers of tomorrow but is one of the UK’s leading and most respected Tai-Chi instructors. For anyone who needs to have the benefits of Tai-Chi explained to them, have a conversation with Pete. Apart from the fact the guy doesn’t look a day older than he did when he had his first hit in 1971, he is one of the loveliest and most laid back people I have ever known.

Mike Koch-Lead Guitar and Vocals

Mike was a gifted child musician and picked up the guitar when he was 8 and began performing regularly with the local music school’s rock band at the age of 12. Mike was inspired by bands like Black Sabbath and Deep Purple and his first single release was with Danish Metal act “Witchcross” in 1982 a double a-side penned by Mike and the singer of his band.

In 1984 the band debuted internationally on the Roadrunner label with their album “Fit For Fight” this release secured the band numerous shows in Scandinavia and across the rest of Europe. The Band eventually split in late 1987 Mike formed “Harlot” a soft rock act, with the former singer of Witchcross.

Harlot released an album “Room With a View” in 1988, which received 4K out of 5 in the English Metal magazine Kerrang! How ever Mike’s hunger for further success brought him to London in 1989 where he played with several up and coming bands though the 90’s.

It was in London that Mike was offered the fantastic opportunity to play Guitar with Les Mckeown’s Legendary Bay City Rollers in 2000 and has toured the world with the band. Away from BC Sweet Mike continues to live and work in London, England as a successful performer, songwriter and Producer.

Marc Pearson-Guitar and Vocals

I am part of a fantastic band that rocks crowds across Europe. If someone had shown me a video of the BC Sweet of today compared to a few years ago, I would never have believed it. That statement is in NO WAY disrespectful to the wonderful people I have worked with in the band since I joined in 2000. It’s simply that today I have the best of all worlds, the best musicians as well as a wonderful chemistry on stage that is allowing the show to evolve and grow in a way I could never have hoped for.

I always wanted a band that the great Brian Connolly himself would have been proud of. I think, finally, I have that. BC Sweet is a solid and exciting unit performing the greatest hits of Sweet, keeping the songs alive for generations to come.

A BC Sweet show of today features all the hits of Sweet from the early bubblegum hits right through to the later more AOR type songs such as "Love Is Like Oxygen". To all of you who spend your hard earned money travelling hundreds of miles sometimes, to come to our shows, or taking time to drop us emails and letters, we never take it for granted. Thanks for supporting BC Sweet, we love ya loads.
