Hats off to all those who protect us by serving in the military, veterans, their patient families and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

NOT HEROES: The Bush administration and FEMA who have forgotten New Orleans and the thousands of people like me who have no home to go back to!

After Hurricane Katrina washed away most everything I owned, I landed in LA where I am creating one of a kind bead jewelry. I collect unusual beads from around the world and string and hand knot them on colorful leather. Each piece has at least one KATRINA LUCKY BEAD that survived the storm with me! Subscribe to and read my blog here, then visit my Beadtique and shop!
Tropical BO-HO meets elegant GLAM with urban cynicism, spiritual symbolism and whimsy thrown in... A BEAD GUMBO is: sparkling Swarovski crystals, Czech glass, pearls, artisan lampwork, Bali silver, tropical seeds and shells, semi-precious healing stones, Holy olive wood from Bethlehem, Connemara marble from Ireland, Evil Eyes from Turkey and Greece, Mahogany and Kashmeri from India, Peruvian clay, Bayong and other exotic woods from the Phillipines, Chinese porcelain and the very best of American polymer and lampwork artists= WORLD BEADS! LUCKY BEADS! Phantasmagorical juxtaposition, color, and texture!
Katrina Survival Bead by Bead...
"My jewelry is...unique one of a kind designs you won't find anywhere! Inspired by cold winters growing up in NY, and years in romantic, colorful New Orleans, home of Mardi Gras, Mojo, Gris-gris, Voodoo, Jazz Fest and Southern Decadence. And then Katrina. Limbo living in LA with perfect weather, deeper moods, chaos and today's news... but still gardening! I hope to share the healing joy the beads bring me! " ~Luv, Gypsy Rose
我想認識: fellow artists, poets and writers, beaders, other Katrina survivors and evacuees, gardeners, musicians, teddy bear fans, old friends, new friends, potential shoppers :)
"This group is for survivors of Hurricane Katrina who live or lived in New Orleans and friends, family, or Nawlins fans who wish to offer support and hear their stories. I am an evacuee still in So California and would like to meet others to discuss KATRINA TWO YEARS LATER, memories and pertinent topics related to Katrina's ongoing chaos and New Orleans' future. Many people do not understand the impact this disaster is STILL having on folks who went thru it!"
EVENT: On Monday November 10 at 1pm EST I will be interviewed by nationally known author Bob Tarte (Enslaved By Ducks, Fowl Weather) on his radio show "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!"
Its a fabulous show and I have the privilege of sharing how wonderful it is to love and care for pigeons and doves!
I hope you can tune in! bobtarte.com Here is the link: http://www.bobtarte.com/pages/Podcasts.html
Thanks for the seconding, but the Jax is too small for eight people on stage. We're looking for somewhere around downtown but we're running into the same problem so far. If you've got anybody in the lofts doing an opening blah-blah we're up for that too. Let us know, and you can bring da zombies of da second line witcha.
The New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund offers a CafePress print of what’s left of our piano to help raise funds for musicians. NOmrf pays no office rent and stays grass roots to help each dollar go further. We’ve given hundreds of displaced musicians grants since 8/29/5.
We still assist them wherever they are now, and welcome any help you have to give.
