| Influences | Bearforce 1 is the world’s, or at least Europe’s, first true ‘bear band’. The band consists of Robert from Belfast, together with Konstantinos from Greece, Peter and Yuri from Amsterdam. They met each other while on holiday in New York in the summer of 2006. It’s there they discovered they had something in common: a passion for singing and performing. And they thought it would be fantastic to have a boy band that didn’t consist of smooth, polished 18 year-old boys with ‘X- factor’ written all over them, but just 4 guys…with hair, who just want to make a fun night of it.
The next evening, when they met producers Goldschmidt and Rockefeller, who have a studio on 49th street, things really started moving. They were enthusiastic about the idea of a ‘bear band’, and in no time at all the first demo of their debut single ‘Bearforce 1’ had been recorded.
They brought this with them when they rang the doorbell of C+R in Amsterdam, who immediately decided to release the single themselves. But many others, including stylists, choreographers, musicians and photographers believed in the idea, and all of them collaborated on project ‘Bearforce1’. At this point the first CDs have been pressed and the video has been recorded at the studios of Amsterdam-based Tank and on location in Sitges. During Gay Pride 2007 the first single will be released on a genuine ‘Bearforce 1’ boat.
