Originally formed in 2002 - but constantly evolving and expanding, Beatabet is now a record label as well as a collective of over 40 musicians and artists who regularly collaborate and provide skills, resources and opportunities for each other. Each year beatabet decamps for four months to an isolated converted farmhouse in France, where we run a summer residency project. there we have a rotating group of 10-15 artists (of any discipline) living and working together. The backbone of the schedule consists of group workshops, group criticism sessions, improvisation sessions, group composition sessions and creative games. After each season we release a compilation CD of the best of the pieces of music.
Beatabet is run by a committee consisting of: Jules Arthur, Kassia Zermon, Poppy Kay, Graham Sowerby, Abraham Moughrabi, J.S. Thornton (Brighton contingent) plus Dave the Machine, Seiriol Cwyfan Davies, Nick Wilsdon, Alex Forster (London, Edinburgh and beyond)
