URBAN ELECTRO PROJECT / 4 Part EP from Beat Assassins
Electro productions on breakbeat drum patterns, enhanced by urban vocals:
This is the unique sound of Beat Assassins. Imagine taking that sound, creating four exciting tracks and delivering the parts to be remixed by some of the most exciting new producers in selected dance genres. Well this is precisely what Beat Assassins have done and the end result is the Urban Electro Project (UEP).
UEP is a 4-part series of Beat Assassins’ tracks plus remixes from the Assassins’ favourite producers within the genres of bassline house, drum n’ bass, breakbeat and fidget house. It is a cross-pollination of new talent unified by one concept; Beat Assassins’ urban electro style.
On the house tip, remixes have been drafted in by New York’s rising star AC Slater and by UK fidget house producer Calvertron. Award-winning breakbeat act NAPT add their N-funk twist to Part 3 while fresh drum n’ bass talent Sigma add b-line rollers to Part 4.
To complement the fresh music productions, an innovative artwork concept has been created by James Hacker for the record sleeves. Neon light trails are photographed with a slow shutter speed to create geometric patterns and futuristic illusions that are reworked into striking ethereal images.

BEAT ASSASSINS / Bringing The London Sound Of Urban Electro
Electro productions on breakbeat drum patterns, enhanced by urban vocals; this is the unique sound of the Beat Assassins.
The Beat Assassins first evolved in 2006 when Wooz & Jimmy got together in a shed in Harpenden to write a couple of tunes. But one thing led to another and, before they knew it, the Beat Assassins became an established act and launched their own label, Mofo Recordings. Their mutual love of hip-hop and dance music heavily influenced their productions and by 2007 Beat Assassins were dropping hip-hop vocals over phat breaks on a 130 bpm tempo.
The Beat Assassins’ production standards rapidly improved and at the end of 2007 they released We Run Tings, which invented a new territory in breakbeat production called “urban electro”. This new style unites electro, breakbeat and dancehall, delivering an exciting and individual sound.
Beat Assassins have caught the attention of promoters wanting a dancefloor-driven urban vibe in their clubs. Wooz’s DMC scratching skills and Jimmy’s fifteen years DJ experience have enabled Beat Assassins to tear up clubs and festivals across mainland Europe, the UK and Australia with their high octane DJ sets that throw down an eclectic mix of electro, breaks, dubstep, wonky house and drum n’ bass.
In 2009 Beat Assassins are releasing their 4-part series called Urban Electro Project (UEP), which includes remixes from the Assassins’ favourite producers within the genres of, bassline house, drum n’ bass, breakbeat and fidget house. These include AC Slater, Calvertron, Sigma and NAPT. This project has won support from Groove Armada, Utah Saints, Plump DJs and Dub Pistols.
Also watch out for their remix of Tittsworth Ft Kid Sister & Paserock / WFT (Beat Assassins Remix) on Hotcakes. Plus a massive remix of Deekline & Wizard Ft Top Cat & Yolanda / Bounce & Rebound forthcoming on Against The Grain.
