Des Moines-based rock quartet Beati Paoli burst onto the scene in 2006 with a national tour and the release of their five-track EP Penny Dreadful. After a nation-wide tour the group collaborated again for 2008’s A Sense of Urgency, 10 cuts recorded on the band’s own label and engineered by drummer Scott O’Gara. Along with O’Gara, the group consists of vocalist Gregory Goode, bassist Ryan Meier and guitarist Cecil Skrdlandt. While they certainly have an independent streak, calling Beati Paoli indie rockers seems a cop-out. Goode’s vocals give the group a distinctive sound that is hard to describe but quickly recognizable, and their music doesn’t fit easily into any particular genre. Beati Paoli is one of those rare groups that defies definition and simply must be experienced aurally.
Beati Paoli has shared the stage with such national and regional bands as: British Sea Power, Man Man, We Are Scientists, Asobi Seksu, Grampall Jookabox, Cursive, Head of Femur...and the list goes on.

disappearing act. Maggie cracked her head open during a basement show, so we’ve
been out(no pun intended) for awhile. She is almost better so when that happens
we’ll be back in the recording studio. In the meantime, we did manage to
