We, Beatnic Prestige, are a mod/punk/indie band from Dunfermline, Fife, KY12.
In October 2006 we played our first gig to a sell out audience of 300 people at Pj Molloys, and since then we've been ever so busy! In our first two years together we racked up more then 130 gigs all over Britain. Highlights have included playing sell out shows at 'The Old Blue Last' in London, hogmany at 'King Tuts Wah Wah Hut' in Glasgow, the Dundee 'Doghouse' and most recently the 'Kinema' in Dunfermline supporting The View. In 2008 alone we had support slots with 'Parka', 'The Law', 'Sergeant', 'The View' and 'The Paddingtons'.
We also run our own promotions company, 'Weekend Revolution'. This is a live music night which we started in order to give Dunfermline something to shout about. Each night so far has been a complete sell out with many top, breaking and established, bands playing for us.
When we're not gigging we spend most of our time at 'The Shed', our self built studio/rehearsal space. This is where we rehearse new tunes and set lists. 'The Shed' is also where we self produce demo tracks, which you can hear now and again on our page.
Vic Galloway recently selected us as his 'unsigned heroes' for the week on his BBC Radio Scotland show. He also invited us for a live session on his BBC Radio1 show which was tip top. We've also been chosen as XFM Scotlands exposure band of the week by Jim Gellately.
2009 kicked off with a full blown 21 date nationwide tour taking in venues the length and breadth of Britain, from Elgin to London. The tour was arranged to back up the release of our self-titled debut EP.
Recorded at Cava studio's in Glasgow, the 4 song record is available to buy at all our gigs, from our Myspace page and Ebay, aswell as being up for download from itunes, HMV and Napster. It is also on sale at the following outlets:
Pj Molloys - Dunfermline
3rd Base - Dunfermline
Kenny's Music Shop - Dunfermline
Kenny's Music Shop - Dundee
In May we released our debut single 'Good To Go', which we are currently backing with a short tour of Scotland and England. The record includes two B-sides: 'The Happy Man' (Live @ Velocity) and 'The Reply'.
Also recorded at Cava studios's you can buy the single now. You can follow the link via our page and buy the CD or visit itunes or HMV to download it. The CD is also available from the same outlets as the EP and at all our gigs.
