i like to write poetry, prose, and shorts. i can often be found with a camera or a video camera...or editing pictures and video clips. i like to mess around on the piano and the fiddle. i've taken up Irish step dancing. i also go contra dancing a lot. more often than not, you can catch me drawing cartoons or reading offbeat literature. i'm also really into pysanky which is the ancient art of ukrainian egg decorating, (but i haven't had time recently, because you work with a beeswax candle...and an open flame in a dorm room just isn't a possibility at the moment).
Music
i have rather biopolar tastes in music. here goes...jazz, ranging from classic stuff like dave brubeck to big band to organized chaos, blues, acoustic rock, classic rock, reggae, alternative, punk, ska, rock, piano infiltrated pop (think ben folds, billy joel, rufus wainwright), actually i'll even listen to opera, bluegrass, folk, some old school electro and hip hop here and there is swell, heck even some ocassional foreign traditional songs are cool now and again (think greek zorbas), i'm really into impressionist, romanticist, and modernist composers, like debussy, chopin, and khachaturian. to be honest...i'm willing to (at least once) listen to (a sampling of) anything i haven't heard before.
Movies
royal tenenbaums. snatch. layer cake. billy elliot. whale rider. ferris beuller's day off. the legend of 1900. coffee and cigarettes. the bond films (especially the sean connery and roger moore ones...but not the dalton ones...i find them rather... *blagh* ). eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. clockwork orange. monster's inc. les choristes. finding richard. beauty and the beast. blues brothers. waiting for guffman. best in show. newsies. a mighty wind. dick tracy. the great gatsby. finding neverland. about a boy. moulin rouge. shrek 2. back to the future (the first one). mall rats... just to name a few.
Television
i'm not a fan. however, if something intriguing pops up on the discovery channel or nova or something...i might have to make some tea and alllow childlike curiousity to keep me ooo-ing and awe-ing at the binary inscriptions on the tube.
About me:
call me on this if i'm wrong, but...i'm a people person, i love to interact with those around me and, more often than not, crave the company of fellow human beings. so yeah, wih that tad bit of gregariousness, i have a very multi-dimensional collection of compadres and deeply love and cherish all of these individuals for their various qualities. in addition, as crazy and dysfunctional my family tends to be, i feel very grateful for such an awesome. i try my best to keep an open heart and mind. i'm a tad zany and rather impulsive, but don't let that fool you. i do give a crap about the world around me. i try to open myself up to new experiences and better understand the world and our exsistence on it. i enjoy life and i value a fuller life over a longer one. i understand that we're mortal, so i tend to abide by "carpe diem". however, i'm no more flawless than the next. i seek to go about things to the best of my ability, yet i don't intend to be perfect. personally, i think it's the little "faults", if you will, that make humans...well...human...and that, ladies and gentlemen, is a beautiful thing. spirituality (not regulated by religious dictatorship) is a really big part of who i am and my outlook. i tend to come off as a flake to some, (hey it's cool, that's your own opinion), but i tend to be very sensitive to the interconnectedness of humans. (if you haven't noticed, i don't like using capital letters...you see, i find it's the little subtleties that impact our minds, our souls, and our hearts.) if you ever want to chat, feel free to ask me about anything you'd like, because i'd love to know where your thoughts lie and all your secret philosophies. just make yourself comfortable and i'll make the tea.
Whats inside your soul? Boys and Girls (PICS)
You are quite expressive and thoughtful. You see the world in a way that others are blind to.You are a grounded person, but you also leave room for imagination and dreams. You feet may be on the ground, but you're head is in the clouds. But be careful dont fly so high. You see yourself with pretty objective eyes. How you view yourself is almost exactly how other people view you. That is because you are your true self to you and others. Your near future is likely to be filled with great successes and accomplishments. You just need to figure out how to get there. For you, falling in love is all about the adventure and uncertainty. You can only fall in love with someone who keeps you guessing. Interesting!!!Your fun, we should me friends. Take this quiz!
Who I'd like to meet: Rasputin. I don't think he was hugged enough as a child. Tolstoy and Gandhi, (at the same time). They had this back and forth inspiration thing that is just so intruging. Theresa Aytam, my great-grandmother. Apparently she was a 4'8 Transylvannian, who did laundry for a bookie and read tea leaves....oh and a very wonderful Mr. Bob Dylan.
I hadn't touched this myspace in quite some time. I'm still up for some reason, so I decided to tell you that I love and miss you. I hope I can see you tomorrow.
We met February 23rd, which means that we both had our lonely Valentine's day before meeting each other. But did we really not start dating until a month later, or could it have been sooner than that? St. Patrick's day is March 17th, were we already dating by then or was that the in-between time when it wasn't official?
Hey it was nice seeing you and your family at Wendly's lol! I'll have to stop by Radioshack and pretend to be looking for something electronic and be all like this lady (you) is the best employee you guys got, she's so helpful haha.
I'm going to give you a shaved gerbil. But that's not the important part, what is important is that I will have tatooed it to say "I'll love you always"
It has been pretty cool so far. I just got back from the lowland forest that we spent a week in yesterday. Tomorrow morning we leave for the Galapagos. It shall be exciting.
