The East Asia - Australasian Flyway is one of nine major migratory waterbird flyways around the globe. It extends from within the Arctic Circle in Russia and Alaska, southwards through East and South-east Asia, to Australia and New Zealand in the south, encompassing a whole 22 countries!! Migratory waterbirds share this flyway with 45% of the world's human population. The Flyway is home to over 50 million migratory waterbirds - including shorebirds, Anatidae (ducks, geese and swans) and cranes - from over 250 different populations, including 28 globally threatened species. These incredible birds MAKE ROUND TRIP MIGRATIONS OF UP T0 26,000 km each year between their breeding grounds in the northern hemisphere and their non-breeding areas in the south. These trips are made in several weeks, with brief stops at staging sites along the way to rest and refuel for the next leg of their journey. the thousand feathered machine takes flight... beatrice produces layered electronic soundscapes, her feathered trip hop beats support voice, strings and sound. Her fragile voice soars above oceans of bassy depths and stormy treble clouds. A voyage through melancholic parables, she returns you to the skies... helping you to remember what it was like to have wings. Hailing from the wild skies of Melbourne beatrice has been lucky enough to receive two grants from Arts Victoria. The fist a Victoria Rocks demo recording grant, which gained her access to most major and boutique Australian electronic festivals. Including Rainbow Serpent (VIC), Earth Frequency (QLD), Island Vibes (Stradbroke Island), Shine On (VIC), Bushweek (QLD), Earth Dance (Cairns), Dragon Dreaming (Canberra), Peats Ridge festival (NSW), Folk Rhythm and Life (VIC). The second grant that Beatrice received was a Career Building Grant from Arts Victoria to fund her premier album - And we fall into birds – which will be released in 2013. She is co-producing this album with Thomas 'Soup' Campbell of Editor, Cumbia Cosmonaughts and Miso fame. Live beatrice is joined by Apex - beatboxer, Emily Barrow on shakuhachi and flute and David Williams on rhodes, keys and atmosphere. As well as MC's, live string sections and other instrumentation. This live band is full, phat and feminine. A special sound and feeling. Beatrice hopes you will join her on this musical migration home. Bookings and general contact: musique.beatrice@gmail.com
