Marcum Core hails from Hopkins, SC, where his father, a music lover from Goldsboro, NC, and his mother, a Motown native, introduced young Marcum to music; it is no “Quincy”dence that Marcum had inherited his parents love for music. Marcum grew up listening to a variety of music ranging from Old School R&B to Jazz to Classical to Hip-Hop. Marcum developed an undeniable affection towards Hip-Hop during the 90’s; he was influenced by Street Side Records and radio personality D.J. Prince Ice, whose cuts and scratches he would emulate on his personal record player. June 3, 1997 marked two special events in music: the release of Wu-Tang Clan’s Wu-Tang Forever and the day that Marcum Core began his career as a producer. Marcum began to work “Dilla”gently at his craft, dedicating every spare moment to his music. Having “No I.D.”, it was fitting that his mentor, D.J. Prince Ice gave Marcum his alias, MIDI; MIDI Marc was born! MIDI works like an “Alchemist” in the lab, combining a variety of elements to make his “Organized Noize”. MIDI Marc has showcased his music through competition; this “Battlecat” has traveled throughout the Carolina’s to participate in beat battles. MIDI Marc has won his share of beat battles, earning the “Rza”spect of his colleagues and competitors in the process. MIDI Marc’s “Neptunes” have also earned him a “Supreme Clientele” list of collaborators; collaborating with the likes of Fat Rat tha Czar, Dan Johns, Nteligence, Preach, Spectac, Diablo Archer, Seven (of The Lost Colony), and many other talented artist in South and North Carolina. Even 9th had to “Wonder” at the arsenal that MIDI Marc possessed, when the two crossed paths at record store in Columbia, SC. MIDI is humble enough not get “beside himself”; however, he is confident enough to feel that Pete would “Rock” to his music and label him as “Soul Brother No. 2”. MIDI Marc’s passion for his craft is inevitable; he is constantly working to become a “Premier” producer in the game. The musically-minded MIDI Marc’s progress thus far only symbolizes the beginning for the “American Beatmaker”. As long as his fans and supporters ears are open he will be heard, because the only type of music that he is incapable of making is the silent type. Stay tuned……
