All of the above yet none of the above....but loads of atonal sax and wordy/shouty things, mainly ad-libbed, semi worked out mutant techno bleeps and much ranting with loads of unexpected (especially by us) things going off....Skewed beats and Samples litter the set..some out and out waffling interspersed with interesting facts revolving around Animals (mainly birds and Rhinos) and references to Footwear and Trains are plentiful. Not for the narrow minded or level headed person. Sometimes not loud enough but always guaranteed to offend someone....
Beat Science currently comprises of 4 members (see photos) They play bizarre versions of well known tunes and also demented instrumentals. The sound is a Mutant Free Jazz/dance/techno/poetic mishmash of Devil sounds. They are heavily influenced by Capt Beefheart, Ivor Cutler, John Cooper Clarke, Sun Ra,Faust, Bonzo,s etc and include covers of their stuff in their sets. They rarely rehearse and some of the members only met for the first time when actually gigging. Two of the Band were in the original line -up of Biting Tongues in the early 80's .....another currently also plays bass in Casualties (busy Rock band also from Stockport). The instrumentation consists of Sampler, Sax, Alto and Soprano melodica, Bulb horn and longophone ( a reed driven cornet based piece of proto - plumbing) A theremin in a Marmite jar, comb and paper, harmonica, swanee whistle (Clangers Anyone?).and anything else which may come to hand..They gig sporadically and have recently played gigs with Thomas Truax and the Fruiting Bodies......catch them at a venue near you....................
