The Vienna-based independent label was first founded by Trishes & Whizz Vienna, because they just wanted to press up some beats on vinyl. To their great surprise, the first two records called "Beattown01" and "Beattown02" quickly sold out. While still doing their instrumental HipHop thing, the two then decided to release some of their other projects as well.

So lautet die Philosophie der US-Rapgruppe The Beatnuts, die 1991 von Dominikanern JuJu und vom Puerto Ricaner Psycho Les in Queens/NY zum Leben erweckt wird. Heute sind die Beatnuts wohl einer der berühmteste n HipHop Acts unseres Planeten. Mit Hits wie unter Anderem “Watch Out Now“ und “No Escapin' This“ und Zusammenarbeiten mit Weltstars wie Akon, spielten sich die beiden Latinos verdient in die Oberliga internationalen Musikmarktes. Neben dem Rap produzierten sie unter Anderem für Ghostface, Common, Mos Def, Missin Linx und dem Latino Rapper Kurious.
Dwele’s universe is one where R&B, spoken word, jazz and hip-hop collide to create a singular genre. Imagine a producer / singer / instrumentalist schooled in the soul of Marvin Gaye, Donnie Hathaway and Stevie Wonder, yet still influenced by the raw street artistry of today. As a former rapper, Dwele might have the trademark hip-hop swagger, but there’s more to this self-confessed ’old soul’ than mere front.
