Born in Memphis, Tennessee and heavily influenced by the music of Elvis Presley, Al Green, and Otis Redding, Beau has written a repertoire of music reminiscent of the soulful inflections of “the Memphis sound.” Citing Elvis as a main source of inspiration, Beau was always fascinated by the musical boundaries Elvis transcended, who had simultaneous hits on the country, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll charts.
In Memphis, Beau began taking classical piano lessons at age five but tried to squeeze in some time with his teacher to learn “Great Balls of Fire.” Beau was soon winning regional talent competitions and competed as a finalist in The Mid-South Fair Youth Talent Contest, a contest graced by Elvis, Justin Timberlake, and many others. Beau was able to find his niche as a singer in these early Memphis days.
Beau then took his musical aspirations to new heights by attending Northwestern University’s prestigious School of Music in Chicago, where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in vocal performance and political science. At Northwestern, Beau appeared as “Danny Zuko” in Grease and as the leading man in many other productions. Although trained operatically, Beau simply could not relinquish his Memphis roots, and began writing original music that captured his Memphis experience.
From Chicago he moved to Los Angeles, where he began writing a library of songs that captured the Memphis sound. " Beau's debut single "More Than I Can Give" was the song that catapulted his career, the song and accompanying music video marking Beau’s introduction to the Nashville music scene, landing on the websites of CMT, GAC, MTV, Vh1, Yahoo, and the American Music Channel. The song was featured on the in flight audio programs of Northwest, Delta, and Cathay Pacific Airlines. This success gave rise to interviews and performances on many country radio stations.
Beau was featured on Oprah in May, 2009 and in the February 2, 2009 issue of "In Touch Weekly" magazine in the "Can't Miss Guide" as well as Country Weekly Magazine. In October 2008, Beau was named one of Nashville's 25 Most Beautiful People, an honor also bestowed on Jewel, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, and Sheryl Crow. He gained international media attention when asked to pen and premiere an honorary lullaby for Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s daughter, Sunday Rose. Beau also won CMT’s 2008 Nashville area Music City Madness original song contest with his song "Mr. Wrong."
Capitalizing on his debut song’s success, Beau complemented his album with other music that captures the Memphis spirit. Beau represents a new breed of artists that continues to push the boundaries, in much the same way Elvis did, while giving country music a fresh, unique sound that at its very core features pure blue-eyed soul and relatable stories.
