Sounds Like
"...the song "Generation of the Fallen" begins with gentle droplets of a beat and a sample that sounds like, for lack of a better description, distorted waves of gentle scraping. Stark, Satie-like piano chords and languorous lines of trumpet seem to float into hearing range. And then, as if appearing out of the mists of a dream, emerge Michaelis' rich, jazz-inflected vocals:
"To the generation of the fallen / where are you to guide us? / You who have seen the end of the movement / I ask 'Can there be an end to causes?'"

Beautiful Bird was formed in 2003 by Noah Thomas and Kelly Michaelis combining an interest in vocal ensembles and improvised music with found soundscapes and electronic music/tape music/music concrete. Noah has been playing professionally since 1988 (classical/jazz/ska/indie), but somehow devoted most of his creative energy to research interests outside of improvised practice culminating in receiving a PhD in anthropology/archaeology in 2008, which informs his music in some strange way, and has supported artists such as Howe Gelb, Giant Sand, Calexico, Niam Amor, Golden Boots, Cathy Rivers, Bernadette Seacrest, Jeremy Michael Cashman, Thought Festival, and others. Kelly has devoted her creative energy toward a degree in medicine, and then education and finally speech, language and hearing sciences, this also informs her sound in unconscious tendencies towards the healing arts and pedagogy. In the last few years we have had the good fortune to form a collaboration with Vicki Brown (myspace.com/vickibrown), who has augmented our optimistic struggling with texture, by providing the essential third voice and has opened up the strangely organic nature of feedback, distorted resonances, and hissscrunch. We offer the EP 'Memory' for free download at stigaemusic.com.

A could prevent the possessed, The apprentice wants to know, The artist makes art, The poet makes the book, In poetry, you. We spend the nights, Far these TVs, And our wheel of friends, The fault of the drink, With the last bite, We bring joy, And showing the fantasy, Do not live and yes, We live poetry, We do today, During the nights drinking.
Muertepop records presents "Photophobie", debut release of the Italian electronic artist Fucksia. About thirty minutes of sweet and fine indietronica, like being closed in a room watching the rain through the window.
