Beauty StrikesBack is the imaginative partnership of friends Greggory Pruett and Jonathan Thompson. Born in a small, dusty family basement, BeautyStrikesBack began slowly fabricating their compositions using a computer, mics with duct tape, and even an upside down bass. The duo began their creative alliance in early 2006, when, realizing they came from different musical backgrounds, the two decided to put their thoughts together and come up with a mixture of musical wonder. After a few shows, Andrew Kleiman (Lexington Chapter) began playing bass for the group, and,despite his love for tardiness and show-choir, they all felt it was a perfect fit. While at a festival, Gregg ran into a friend he hadn't seen for awhile and asked if he knew any guitarists around the area. He answered, "Well, this guy plays guitar." And he pointed to Tyler Gatton, who played with the group 2 weeks later, and has been playing ever since. The group has a plethora of influences/sounds ranging from DJ-style beats and electro-rock ballads, to acoustic simplicity. They just finished up work on their first release, The Art of Illusioneering EP, which is now available online and at all shows. Be on the lookout for new videos and shows popping up soon.
