Television
very little television. Big Brother, Jeopardy, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Boston Legal, Dexter, and American Idol. that's it for things that i watch regularly. however, if you put on the discovery channel, national geographic channel, or discovery health channel, i'm hooked.
Books
wow. i don't think there's enough room to list all of my favorite books. anything by neil gaiman (except his screenplay for Beowulf, which was an atrocity), classics are my favorites... 1984, the time machine, catcher in the rye, watership down, great expectations, jane eyre, etc... i especially love Southern literature-- classics like Robert Penn Warren, Flannery O'Connor, and Eudora Welty... i have a new-found love for Lewis Nordan, who wrote Wolf Whistle, which is fantastic in every sense of the word. i also recently began reading Phillip Pullman, who despite his penchant for 'preachy atheism' is an excellent, transcendent storyteller. i love to read poetry; my favorite poet is Susan Stewart, but i also love plath, cummings, roethke, levertov, of course shakespeare... goodness. the list just goes on and on.
