Nothing can do us more harm than a thought unguarded.
But once understood there is nothing that can be a greater friend.
In a life committed to integrity, the mind comes to rest with
greater ease in calmness and simplicity. The mind that is at peace
with itself finds peace in the world. In a heart of loving kindness there
is a falling away of layers of confusion and born hatred, dishonesty, and greed.
We can lay down the burden of all the residues and traces born of a disconnection
with the world; we learn to release guilt, regret, fear and self-consciousness.
The calm mind is an accessible mind; we can explore its pathways, and mazes;
we can understand it and find freedom within it.
I will finish these comments in its entirety on my blogs since myspace
will not allow me to get too far with this.
An old man was laying on his death bed. With only hours to live, he suddenly noticed the scent of chocolate chip cookies coming from the kitchen. With his last bit of energy, the old man pulled himself out from his bed, across the floor to the stairs, and down the stairs to the kitchen. There, the old man's wife was baking chocolate chip cookies. With his last ounce of energy, the old man reached for a cookie. His wife, however, quickly smacked him across the back of his hand, and exclaimed, "Leave them alone, they're for the funeral!"
Beauty is Strength. Strength to face the deepest of fears. Strength to continue the journey in spite of all burdens. Strength to stand in the face of all adversity, Even when the obstacles are loved ones.
Beauty is Wisdom. Wisdom to accept all failings. Wisdom to admit failure and short-coming. Wisdom to keep wits in order, Even when panic struggles to reign.
Beauty is Endurance. Endurance to rise after every fall. Endurance to fight even though all seems hopeless and lost. Endurance to live by true ideals Even when that risks costing everything.
Beauty is Compassion. Compassion to show mercy for all. Compassion to provide a free shoulder and ear. Compassion to love all as family, Even when they are the worst of enemies.
Real beauty is lost forever, When measured in perfection.
