Michael entdeckte im Alter von acht Jahren seine Liebe zur Musik und den Drums. Nach mehreren Jahren traditionellem und modernem Unterricht folgten die ersten Bandprojekte in den verschiedensten Bereichen. Von Rock/Alternative über Funk , Jazz/Swing bis hin zu sämtlichen Metal-Genres konnte er Erfahrungen sammeln. Erste Aufnahmen und nationale Auftritte wurden gespielt.
Was folgte war der Einstieg bei ASTERIUS die professionel in der Musikszene agierten. Mit ASTERIUS nahm er zwei Alben auf und unterschrieb einen Plattendeal bei dem italienischen Indie-Label Cruz Del Sur. Michael spielte neben vereinzelten Tourneen viele nationale wie internationale Auftritte, unter anderem auf großen renomierten Festivals.
Neben der Live-Aktivität reifte die Idee von einem Bandeigenen Tonstudio in den Köpfen der Musiker von ASTERIUS. Schließlich wurde der Bau in Angriff genommen und nach einiger Zeit harter Arbeit konnte man PROTONRECORDINGS eröffnen. Mittlerweile sind die Sessions im Studio fester Bestandteil seines kreativen Schaffens.
Neben der Bandarbeit bildete sich Michael mit Unterricht und Workshopbesuchen (unter anderem bei Simon Phillips und Karl Latham) wie auch als Autodidakt weiter.
Außerdem baute er seine Tätigkeit als Lehrer für Schlagzeug und Schlagwerk immer weiter aus und studierte zwei Jahre lang an der Akademie für Musik und Kunst in Heiningen wo er erfolgreich als Fachlehrer im Bereich Drums & Percussion mit Diplom abschloss.
Mittlerweile ist Michael als professioneller Musiker, Lehrer und Dozent für Schlagzeug tätig.
Seine aktuellsten Projekte sind IN ORDER TO PERISH und kürzlich wurde die Produktion der ersten EP und das Video zum Song "Fallin" von MY BLACKENED WINGS fertiggestellt in dem er die Sticks schwingt. Seit März 2008 ist er der neue Drummer bei SAMSAS TRAUM und begleitete die Band auf deren "Heiliges Herz"-Tour und den nachfolgenden Festivals und freut sich auf die kommenden Gigs und die Arbeit mit Ihnen.
At the age of eight years, Michael discovered his love for music and drums. After some years of traditional and modern education, the first band projects in various styles followed.
From Rock/Alternative via Funk, Jazz/Swing to all of the metal genres, in all directions he was able to gain experiences. First recordings and gigs throughout germany were played by him.
What followed next, was his participation in the band ASTERIUS, who were working on a professional level in the musicscene. With ASTERIUS he recorded two albums and signed a record deal with the italian independent label Cruz del Sur Music. Besides some tours, Michael played many national and international shows, among others some big and renowned festivals.
Apart from these live activities, the idea of having a very own recording studio was growing in the heads of the musicians in ASTERIUS.
Finally the building of their studio was started, and after quite some time of hard work the "Proton Recordings" Studio was being opened officially. Meanwhile the sessions in the studio are fix constituents of his creative work.
Besides his work for the band, Michael extended his qualifications with some lessons and workshops (with Simon Phillips or Karl Latham among others) as well as with working as an autodidact.
Furtheron he intensified his activities as a teacher for drums and percussion and studied for two years at the academy for music and art in Heiningen, where he successfully graduated with the diploma as a subject teacher in the category Drums & Percussion.
To date, Michael is working as professional musician as well as teacher and tutor for drums.
His most recent projects are the band IN ORDER TO PERISH and with MY BLACKENED WINGS he played drums for their first EP and the song "Fallin" for which a video clip has been produced not long ago. Since march 2008, he is the new drummer for the well known german band SAMSAS TRAUM and he is taking part in the tour for their release "Heiliges Herz" and played the following festivals with SAMSAS. Now he is looking forward to the gigs and the work with the band.
