Born into a musical family in Ottawa, Canada, Becky Abbott seemed destined to be a performer from the moment she drew her first breath. Her mother, aunt and grandfather are all singers and musicians and some of Becky’s earliest, and fondest, childhood memories are of rehearsals, auditions, family sing-alongs and jam sessions.
From the very first concert her mother took her to at the ripe old age of seven, watching rocker, Bryan Adams (with Sass Jordan as the opening act), Becky knew that being a professional singer was what she wanted to be in life.
Blessed with a searing three octave vocal range, Abbott has had the privilege and versatility to try her hand at just about every musical style she wanted to over the years. But it’s her natural affinity and god-given talent for all-out rock and roll, that has set this stunning singer apart.
Becky’s sultry voice is simply unforgettable. It’s as strong, rich and soulful as the superstars to whom she is oftentimes compared - Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Chris Robinson (The Black Crows) and Nikka Costa. Abbott also has a natural charisma and confidence as she struts around onstage that brings to mind performers like Tina Turner and Mick Jagger.
For the last three years Becky has played and recorded with Juno-nominated blues/rock stalwart David Gogo, touring throughout Canada and the U.S. And while life on the road might not be for everyone, the busy schedule has just reinforced in Abbott the fact that she loves it, she’s not afraid of all the hard work and she’s in it for the long haul.
“Opening for acts such as ZZ Top and B.B. King and getting to tour with Johnny Winter was something I would never have predicted I'd be doing by age 22. “ says Abbott, “But I’m right where I want to be”
Recently Becky performed an extensive European tour with Gogo, which included a live session for BBC Radio 2 in London, UK. The band recorded at the renowned Maida Vale Studio 3, where such legendary performers as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones have recorded over the years. Becky also had the good fortune to record a live session with Gogo, at Radio Bremen (German equivalent of CBC Radio) in one of the most famous theatres in Germany. The performance will be broadcast nationally in Germany.
To add to her many accomplishments to date, Abbott has set her sights on her ultimate goal. Launching her solo career. Becky feels her experience has seasoned her both as a vocalist and performer and she is ready to take the world by storm!
Ottawa has produced some incredible talent over the years, from the 5 Man Electrical Band and the Cooper Brothers to Alanis Morrisette, Artificial Joy Club and Kathleen Edwards. The way things are shaping up, it looks like Becky Abbott is the next in line.
Watch out for this young and talented singing sensation.
It was nice meeting you in person last night, even though I stood across the room like a starstruck fool... I do love your sound though. I have a gig on the 29th, but I'll definitely see you at bluesfest!!
I'm never on this site so it's a good thing that I won't make you wait like I usually do with other emails.
Thanks for the note and the inquiry. Our first 100 draft copies of the CD are out and sold and I'm in the midst of adding some finishing touches before getting it professionally remixed and remastered for the next batch of 1000 copies. Suggestions are welcome.

I find myself returning to this profile for the voice, over and over..... anyone reading this should understand. Becky Abbott is one of those vocal artist that seemed to be seasoned at birth. Her wide vocal flexibility and genuine soul sound will propel her quickly in this whacked out music industry. If not, then this truly is, a whacked out industry!!!!!
Thanks for the ADD. I was blown away yesterday when I stumbled across a youtube vid in a mall for the cancer society. Amazing sound in your voice, stay in touch. :-)
