¨Truly incredible, you have to see it to believe it, if you don't come out dancing at the end it's because you have neither heart nor soul¨ BBC 6 Music
"Rousing, heart-breaking and foot-stomping in equal measures, The Bedlam Six are a swirling, gritty mass of influences and ideas. Their tunes are often barnstorming vaudeville folk brilliance, but their real thrill comes from the interplay between Ali and Louis, who sound like a fist-fight love-in between a long-lost showgirl and a whisky-soaked rambler. Make no mistake, their music is as likely to steal your soul as soothe it." Chris Long - BBC Manchester
"Louis Barabbas is such a unique talent. His music is intelligent, witty and has a kick to rival any fine liquer. Simply awesome."
Chris Holliday, BBC Radio Manchester.
"Excellent in every way: an outfit and a voice that belong in smoke-filled gin-joints where the booze drips off the ceiling and love is left outside."
Chris Hawkins BBC Radio 6
"Louis Barabbas & the Bedlam 6 are one of the best and unique bands for their music, theatre and entertainment that the UK has produced this century...these guys are heading for stardom without doubt"

"The next Big Thing"
Richard Cartridge - Play Radio
"Louis Barabbas and the Bedlam Six are a unique proposition for Manchester bands, so gloriously out of step with everything else around them. Intensely articulate and knowingly droll, theirs is a sound placed in the whiskey-stained jazz bar, the Tom Waits-goes-Gypsy vibe supplemented by the kind of theatrical performance from Barabbas that elevates the show above merely a rendition of songs.
Shaun Curran City Life Magazine, May 2009
"The Bedlam Six tells stories. They tell parables of love and loss, peppered with harmonies. But these are the tales of a malignant mind; the wild early versions of fairy tales before Disney dilution; the twisted whispers in which Red Riding Hood stayed eaten and Goldilocks paid for her porridge-pilfering.
The mesh-tight group swung from spiced Cab Calloway jazz to gypsy folk and gritty blues, anchored by the vocal sparring of Louis' Buster Poindexter gurn and Ali Cegielka's sweet tones. If the mad and exciting musical tales didn't wake the neighbours, the surging howls of approval by the end certainly should have got the knuckles rapping the walls." Whisperin and Hollerin Magazine, March 2008
"A powerhouse of a band... a sound that is at once raw and well-developed, and impossible to ignore" Rock Out With Your Wallet Out, Issue 2 Feb 2007

hmmm new names? well im living in a caravan in the middle of 114 acres, so maybe the animals are all laughing behind my back calling me names like 'silly human'. in some ways its a shame about the name change, i found a record of some australian guys from the 70's called The Black Velvet Band, they recorded at pentridge prison, which sounds cool but really it wasnt. oh well. why was the gig bizarre?
As always, it was a genuine pleasure sharing the stage with you in Manchester. You were an unqualified sensation. Here's hoping we can do it more often! Your Friend, Curtis ----- Curtis Eller's American Circus www.curtiseller.com
If you don't like the new name or "prefer" one of the other ones we were bandying around PLEASE keep it to yourself - you've no idea what a pain in the arse it was changing it! Agreeing on something between eight people is very dificult.
cool name, I prefered the Borstal Creed, but as this may illustrate i dont know how to spell it, which would be a problem!! Are the 7 of you including Louis Barabbas?
