"Suspension" is BEE AND FLOWER'S most focused and direct recording to date. The album redefines the band's twisted-yet-catchy melodies, heartbreaking swoons, and fierce dark landscapes to glittering effect. Recorded in Berlin and Brooklyn, "Suspension" marks a return to a more 'band' feel, featuring original members Dana Schechter (vocs, bass), Roderick Miller (keyboards), the return of Lynn Wright (guitar) and Jon Petrow (violin), as well as Berlin-based members Jonathan Heine (guitar) and Thomas Fietz (drums).

Special guests on "Suspension" include Martin Wenk (Calexico), Paul Watson (Sparklehorse), Danny Tunick (Barbez), Toby Dammit (Swans, Iggy Pop), and string arrangement by J.G. Thirlwell (Foetus, Kronos Quartet). Band members' other involvements include Angels of Light, American Music Club, Keren Ann, Martin Gallop, And the Wiremen, Frank the Baptist, Cloud Room, Botanica, and more.

Bee and Flower now lives and works in both Berlin and NYC, and was founded in New York City in 2000 by singer-songwriter, bassist, and animator Dana Schechter. Dana formed the band with original members Roderick Miller, Lynn Wright, Jon Petrow, and Ani Cordero while a recording/touring member of Michael Gira's (Swans, Young God Records) band Angels of Light. "What's Mine Is Yours" (2003, Neurot Recordings) features the original NYC lineup. The core group (Schechter, Miller, and producer Toby Dammit) moved to Berlin in 2004 to begin work on "Last Sight of Land" (2007, Tuition Music), joined by a largely Berlin-based group of friends and guest musicians.

Previous Releases:

"The Bridge" (2009, Lakeshore Records), a compilation track for the Official Soundtrack for documentary film "Scott Walker 30 Century Man", was recorded in Berlin and NYC. Dana met film director Stephen Kijak after working as an animator on the film, and was later invited to contribute a track. The album also features contributors Damon & Naomi, Laurie Anderson, Saint Etienne, Jarboe, and more.

"Last Sight of Land" (tuition music, 2007), recorded in Berlin, explores elements of traditional film scoring orchestration, with an emphasis on strings, choirs, and a giant bass 'section'. This album marked the departure of the core band from NYC to Berlin, from 2004-2008. Guest musicians featured on "Last Sight of Land" include Thomas Wydler, drums (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), Toby Dammit, producer/percussion (Swans, Bertrand Burgalat), Peter Von Poehl, guitars (Peter Von Poehl, AS Dragon), and more.

"What's Mine is Yours" (Neurot Recordings, 2003), the band's debut full length release, is a rich, dark, sparse and brooding record, at times with tempos slow enough to stop the heart. A music video for "I Know Your Name", directed by Josh Graham (Neurosis, Storm Of Light) was released on Neurot's "Various Artists 1 DVD" in 2004.

Bee and Flower collaboratively wrote the Original Score for the Feature Film "A Good Night To Die"; Dana Schechter wrote the Score for "Dead Dogs Lie". Both films directed by Craig Singer, NYC.

PRESS

....UNCUT UK, 4 Stars.. Reminiscent at times of Low and Cat Power, Dana Schechter’s songs are minimalist but intense, their stark architecture layered with lush spookiness, but the real selling point is her out-of-body sounding voice; like Polly Harvey sticking pins into a voodoo doll of Burt Bacharach, and it’s a hugely arresting sound.

....Q MAGAZINE, 3 stars.. Bee and Flower specialize in slow and moody cinematic pop, not so far from where Portishead once made their mark. Recorded in Berlin with a 25-piece string section adding a grandiose swell to the piano-based heartache, their effect is dreamily soothing.

....Clash, UK 'Homeland' is a crushing delight (imagine Mazzy Star recording in a desolate Berlin chapel). ....-
