Based in Glasgow, Scottish band Beecake are Billy Boyd (Vocals, Guitar), John Crawford (Drums, Vocals), Billy Johnston (Guitar, Piano, Vocals) and Rick Martin (Bass, Vocals) they have all been long-term friends and played individually and together in various bands over the past several years. Beecake was formed in late September 2006 over a bottle of malt whisky in a Glasgow bar when the guys remembered how much they loved making music together. After selling out their first gig as Beecake at Barfly, Glasgow in January 2007 and having fans travel to see them from as far a field as Japan, Germany, Italy, and the USA, they decided it was a good time to record the music they were making. In total five tracks were recorded which would later be released as their EP “Just B”. Since that time they have played many successful shows all over the UK, Europe and to the USA. Through these shows Beecake have gathered a very dedicated live audience and in the fall of 2008 Beecake won the Tartan Clef Best Live Band, at the Nordoff Robbins Music Awards. Beecake have hit the number one spot on the myspace unsigned charts within the UK several times and continue to regularly hold a position within the top 10 unsigned bands in the UK, in various genres, they also continue to hold a respectable position within the myspace worldwide-unsigned charts. Beecake have to date played live with such artists as The Fratelli's, Sharleen Spiteri, Sandi Thom, The Attic Lights, Big Country, BMX Bandits, Amy MacDonald and Eddie Reader. In the summer of 2008, Beecake entered the studio again to start work on their debut album. Now with the album just finished, Beecake are very excited to be going back out on the road, trying out the new songs written for the album, and enjoying the thrill of taking the sound they found for their studio album out to be experienced on the live stage.

Just spent 8 hours (not kidding!) playing Rock Band with Mischa and my stepchildren. I just to tell all of you musicians that I now have a much healthier appreciation for your skills (and multitasking abilities). Truly. :) I have little to no Eye-Hand Coordination, which is made significantly worse by my Oh Look! Shiny! Attention Deficit disorder.
Beecake - we need some of your songs on Rock Band! That'd be tres fun!
I've not had such good fun in a really long time. I highly recommend Rock Band as a way to work off stress and any extra calories consumed during the holiday seasons. ;)
concentrating on the blessings today...dear family...dear friends...another day of life...daily reminders that I am loved by God...and many more... my cup overflows...in spite of the pain.
The scales are still not balanced...JOY wins! sad times might knock me down...but I refuse to stay there...
That's a funny story Lisa...I hope there are pics posted. Fun stuff!
Good luck with the Christmas decorating Kiki!
I planned to do mine today but not quite ready...want to clean the carpets first (light-colored carpets are NOT a good idea with three boys & a dog in the house!!).
Thanksgiving was good...but a little sad...bad news from back home...gonna be so happy when we retire and praying we can move closer to our family. It stinks being so far away!
I hope everyone's weekend is beautiful! Keep Singing....
Happy Thanksgiving, y'all! So Mischa ran in a road race today (did well), but the main point of my post is to let you all know that there was a small "swarm" of women running dressed up as Honeybees. I wasn't able to get a photo of them, but I'm hoping someone will post a photo on the local news site (they are requesting folks send in their photos). BTW - the Honeybees did very well in the race, too. They were less of a "swarm" at the end, but they all finished in good time.
This morning, while I was showering, my sister came into the bathroom. When she heard "This is not an exit", appalled, she asked me: "And since when do you listen to music in the mornings?" My answer was quite easy: "Since Elaine brought me this CD" So, btw, thanks again to Elaine and Penny, and of course to Beecake! You know we're waiting to be able to buy it online now, though, right?
