The Beedles are four really good friends who all share a passion for the Harry Potter series as well as a passion for music. We all go to the same school, Rondout Valley High School. We formed the band during a trip to visit a college when Nicky (lead vocalist/harmonica) said to Michael (the guitarist), and Phoenix (vocalist), "We're gonna make a wizard rock band!" So we wrote our very first song, called "Quidditch Field," in our motel room. This was when the band had just three members. Not long afterwards, we realized that we needed a drummer. Not just a drummer, but a drummer who was very interested in Harry Potter. All three of us immediately thought of our good friend Ben Ganon.
Individual Bio's:
Ben Ganon- Ben is a very versatile musician. He plays many instruments, the drums not being his first choice. He contributes a great deal to the band with drums, backup guitar, vocals, as well as practice space and recording/P.A. equipment!
Nicky Schwab- Though originally a drummer, Nicky plays keyboard and harmonica on many of our songs. He also writes most of the lyrics, drawing upon his in-depth knowledge of Harry Potter. If you haven't looked at our lyrics yet, do so, because I must say that they impress me still.
Phoenix Trent- Though Phoenix is best known for his Sinatra-like singing (honed during years of vocal classes), he also contributes lyrics. His well-trained voice adds variety to the band's vocal section.
Michael Shirk- The one who is typing this all. I, alongside Nicky, reignited our friends' love for Harry Potter. I have been playing guitar for a couple years now and write most of the music for the band. I takes care of the technical stuff (including everything you see on our myspace) for the most part.
