Beef Stew is Sir Stew on Beethoven Radio
HARTFORD, CT - For 13 years Beef Stew was heard on Hartford's #1 Rock Station 106.9 WCCC. And for 8 of those years through today, he's been known as Sir Stew on Beethoven Radio also owned by Marlin Broadcasting. In fact, Stew was one of the creators and principle on-air talents at the station, which began broadcasting in June of 2000. Beethoven Radio is heard on the Internet at www.beethoven.com as well as on WCCC AM 1290 and 106.9 HD2. They also offer a commercial free "members only" 128k stream at their web site.
Sir Stew is on Monday - Friday from 6pm to 12.
Congratulations to Beef Stew 2008 KBA Award recipient for Radio
MEMPHIS, TN - The Keeping the Blues Alive Awards recognize the significant contributions to Blues music made by the people behind the scenes. Each is selected on the basis of merit by a select panel of Blues professionals. KBA Chairman Art Tipaldi notes with respect to this year's recipients, "The committee is once again impressed with the quality of the selected recipients - the outstanding men, women, and organizations that have evidenced a long standing commitment to the Blues genre." In recent years, The Blues Foundation has increasingly recognized the global reach of this indigenous Afro-American art form and the 2008 honorees certainly reflect this awareness, with recipients hailing from Canada, France, and Sweden, in addition to the United States."
HARTFORD, CT - After 13 years, 634 weekly programs, 34,266 songs and 309 interviews, Beef Stew is bringing his Sunday Night Blues radio program on The Rock 106.9 WCCC to a close. His last show aired at 6:00pm on February 24th. Beef Stew said, "It's been a great run. I've made a lot of friends and I'm very grateful. However, after 13 years it's time to create something new for myself and my family. This is totally my decision and in no way reflects upon 106.9 WCCC. They are my friends and always will be."
Stew came to the legendary 50,000-watt rock station in 1995 and began his program with only 1-hour on Sunday nights. His mix of blues-rock, interviews and contests, combined with an irreverent, good-time attitude clicked with New England radio listeners. The program was a hit and by 1998 had expanded to 6 hours. Sunday Night Blues with Beef Stew was a ratings winner, consistently staying in the #1 or #2 spot.
