About stokesy

I'm Stokesy, born in bread in Heywood near Rochdale, traditional working class mill town. Been around a bit, travelled and that. Started writing silly tunes for a laugh with my friends. My wife encouraged me to continue and explore more serious issues, (like cheese). Have joined a band recently called the Plastered tree people. We do folk indie electronica sortof. Hope you enjoy the tunes I have put on here. Some are just for laughs like Chiffon dress, others are a little better thought out. If you enjoy whats on here let me know, cheers Stokesy.

Sorry I haven't been in touch for so long, but over the winter I had major abdominal surgery, and though recovery has been slow, it has been steady and I'm starting finally to feel like my old self again. For surviving my wife bought me a new Stratocaster that I hope to include on some new songs in the very near future. I hope all is well with you and that 2009 is bringing BIG things your way. The Rocket song and the like the rain song are becoming favs. Yes the band stuff is hard to deal with sometimes. Its harder to keep one going than a marriage. It would be great if you could play the Picnic Club in 2009, but the first few are full up so it would be 18th June, 16th July, 20th Aug etc. Please let me know which suits best.
