[Before The Rain] was first shaped in 1997, when vocalist Carlos D'Água and guitar player Valter Cunha began to share musical ideas that ended as acoustic songs. As time passed by, the acoustic sounds weren't enough to express the emotions and feelings unleashed by Valter and Carlos, and in 1998 they decided to seek the remaining members for the band. But it wasn't until 2001 that a stable line-up was found: Carlos: voice; Valter: guitar; Tiago Ferreira: guitar; André Vasconcelos: bass; Gonçalo Brito: drums.
With this line-up, the band recorded two songs in December 2001: "Be Mine" and "You… My Ruin". This recording was entitled "…and with the day dying light", and was never properly distributed, except for a strict number of individuals, somehow close to the band.
In August 2003 the band records a new song called "The Swansong". At this stage, Tiago and André are no longer in the line-up and Hugo Santos joins the fold as new guitar player. Shortly after "The Swansong" studio session, the band parts ways with drummer Gonçalo Brito. At this stage, long time friend and gifted bass player Pedro Daniel and drummer Gonçalo Correia complete what's the strongest line-up to date. The band is scheduled to enter studio in late 2005 to record what will turn out to be their debut album, entitled "One Day Less". The band's line-up went through minor changes with Carlos Monteiro and K. stepping in guitar and drums respectively, and together with them the band is already working in new material to be recorded in 2008
Doom will never die, DOOMRAISER too! As one door closes, another opens. Valerio has decided to leave the band; he wants to concentrate more on his other projects. We all wish Valerio the best of luck with his new vocation. He was, and remains, a formidable guitarist and was an integral part of DOOMRAISER. However, it is with great pleasure that DOOMRAISER announce that Valerio’s replacement is to be none other than our good friend and brother, the fearsomely talented musician Willer. He played bass with evil blacksters Grimness and he’s involved in Black Land, an awesome and obscure heavy psychedelic band from Rome. Practices have been going very well, and Willer is already adding a new, acid and exciting dimension to the band as a whole. His first gig will be at Sinister Noise Club in Rome on the 21th November: a special and drunken night celebrating the birthday of one of the most important Italian underground rock scene club! Stay tuned… and slower, harder, drunker!
